I did one a few years ago for 37 in a 30. The course I did was run by a private company called Drivetech, now part of the AA.
My session was packed. There must have been around 50 of us squeezed into a pretty small room. Good cross-section of society from kids to retirees. Most folk seemed to take it fairly well, but there was one fat, inbred, recidivist woman who spent the morning complaining about how she was innocent, then in same breath say that she would drive how she liked and we could all get fucked.
I didn’t find the course patronising. While they spent time discussing speed, the laws regarding speed and the contribution of speed in the severity of accidents, most of the course was about observation and reading the road.
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. ____________________ 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

I wish I was offered a course 65 in a 50 and 107 in a 70 kinda swayed them to give me points
I'd quite happily accept on of them over points, no need to declare anything etc, but running quotes gave me cheaper premiums with 3 points, now cheaper with 6 It is the only reason I can afford to drive my Golf. |

I did one of these course and was amazed at peoples perception of danger most believing motorways were the most dangerous types of roads.
I had a HGV driver on my course that came very close to getting thrown out as he keep disagreeing with the AA man ____________________ The light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train! |

I did one a year or so ago, I think they vary depending what area you are in?
I was camera'd on the A41 in Birkenhead doing 36 in a 30 and had to do a full day course in Knowsley.
I too was the only biker in the group, and was quite appalled at some of the others lack of knowledge of speed limits and road signs and markings.
We did a morning session going through that sort of stuff, then in the afternoon I had to do an observed drive around Knowsley in a Corsa giving the course leader a running commentary on hazards and speed limits! That bit was quite good fun, the morning stuff was a bit boring. The course leader did comment after the drive that he could tell I rode a bike as my observations were spot-on and I was picking up way more than most of the other people he went out with - apparently only bikers look into the stopped traffic when going across a crossroads on a green light cos car drivers don't realise that someone could be screeching across whilst running a red light......... ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |
