I really want to have a go in one to see how I do! I am a machine on F1 2012 do they use the game as the software or have the developed their own? ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92

I drove one a while ago here.
They are very good simulators with good, physical feedback, but they are certainly NOT indistinguishable from the real thing.... simple physics and laws of motion make that impossible.
When I drove them they were set in 'arcade' mode, which was still pretty real but, for example, had the force feedback torque on the steering turned down so that Joe Public and I didn't get hurt if/when we crashed.
I did manage to get within 107% of the lap record though. ____________________

That place looks pretty cool, where about is it?
Yeah of course, it would be very hard to recreate the actual G force levels you would experience.
| yaigi wrote: | It's NOTHING like a game, the one we used they actually use to train F1 drivers, it's totally unforgiving, one wrong move and you're off. It's (as far as I know) bespoke software, with every F1 track built in. |
Presumed so, I want one!

Bit stupid

I thought that but it does make it a hell of a lot cooler…if you’re going to do it, why not do it properly? If you have that much money to spend on a simulator then I don’t think you would be fussed. ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92

It doesn't look too different than what Psygnosis did in 1996.

A logitech G25 (I have one) and a modified steering wheel would achieve the same thing pretty much, they have pretty strong force feedback when turned up. You could play a lot more games as well… ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92

I went there last year, was 6 seconds a lap faster than everyone else, lapped them all in the race and beat the instructor's lap record. |
