You will need to redo your theory due to the bike specific questions on it ____________________ "Nitrous is like a cheap hooker, you want to hit it but are scared of the consequences |

I passed my driving test in 1989 before separate theory tests existed, but had to sit a theory test for my bike licence 11 years ago and then again for HGV licence a few years later. Each has its own specific questions included (although they all use the same hazard perception clips ). The pass mark requirement is higher for the HGV too. ____________________

Just tough luck and you have to redo the 1? Or do you still get to do the old license tests until the mod1 or your theory expires? |
January 19th..... any one qualifying for a licence on or after that date, NEW RULES apply.
You have to have Theory, CBT, Mod 1 and Mod 2 completed and passed by Jan 18th. End of no exceptions.
Only really applies to people sitting 'standard-bike' test on a 125, aiming to get an A>25Kw licence or people under 24 trying to sneak in a DAS test to get unrestricted A.
If you take Mod 1 before deadline on a 125, then come rule change that MAY be accepted for testing Mod 2 post deadline on a 125 for an A1 125 only licence, as test regime rules for A1 go up to those in force for what applies to 'standard-bike' at the moment.
If you take Mod 1 on a 125 before deadline, and they do allow a 'direct access' to A2, though, you would have to go back and repeat the Mod 1 on an A2 class bike, the Mod 1 on a 125 couldn't be counted as done under different scheme, and A2 requires a 500 A2 bike.
If you took Mod 1 under DAS before deadline, and were under 24, then come mod 2, you couldn't complete DAS you would only be eligible to test for A1 or possibly A2 if they permit a direct access to it for over 19s. POSSIBLE that the pre deadline Mod 1 COULD be counted towards post deadline A2 test.... as the test requirements suggest a bike of higher performance than A2 test demands, BUT, no garantee, they may not accept it and insist on repeat Mod 1 on A2 standard bike.
Clear as mud? OK Short answer, if you don't get all tests done and dusted by the 18th of January under current rules, PRESUME you will have to do both practicals over again, on relevant class of bike for licence entitlement you want to test for, under new rules.
They will NOT issue an A>25Kw licence after January 18th, they will not issue a full unrestricted A after Jan 19th to an under 24. Law says so. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

So i passed the theory, and have my mod 1 on thurs. Have been out this eve practicing all the maneuvers around the cones in a big car park.
On the DSA tube vid LINK it talks about taking your bike of its stand, and wheeling backwards into a parking bay. I have a Marauder 125, which is a bit cumbersome to wheel backwards with one hand on the bars, and one on the saddle as the vid shows. Will they accept sitting on your bike, and wheeling it back that way, or wheeling it with both hands on the bars?
I don't have a fog light, or at least i should say if the bike has one, the switch is somewhere not obvious. Could someone confirm some bikes don't have a fog light?
Any tips for mod 1 are appreciated!
Gaffa, those web addys helped, they also have a practice test on the gov website LINK and i can confirm it's identical layout to the one i just sat! |

It is perfectly acceptable to do a three-point-turn on the manual handling part of Mod 1 if this is easier for you. Just ride into the left-most bay to begin it and use loads of obs, especially when making the turn prior to backing in. Imagine you are crossing a road. This is the technique I used last month and passed.
Good luck. ____________________ 22PlusY

Look like you have a strap running over the front of the pillion seat. You could hold on to that. It doesn't matter how you do it though, as long as it's controlled, and you do your Big Obvious Observations. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
