MCIA again.
Head spin time. Top #10 'manufacturers' are:
1,136 Honda
642 Yamaha
462 Piaggio
442 Triumph
338 Lexmoto
294 Harley-Davidson
278 Kawasaki
245 Peugeot
215 BMW
211 KTM
Suuuzuuuukiiiii! Where you at? Nowhere in August, #3 in September, now gone again. <dafuq.jpg>
Top sellers by "style" are mostly 125s, with the notable exception of 'custom' which is topped by the Harley-Davidson Sportster N 883. Weird to see so many Harleys being sold in October, although maybe it's Victory buyers looking for something that can survive a UK winter...
Well, overall sales are up very slightly on last year, and encouragingly, sales continue their slight shift from 125s to 126-1000cc (although year-to-date it's still 125s up, everything else down).
Called it last year, still calling it: I can't see Suzuki UK (bikes) making it through winter 2012 in their current form. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Yup, it's a gross overview. It's the seasonal trends that interest me, really. Harley had an understandable surge in the spring, but I'd never have expected an autumn resurgence.
And Piaggio, well, what can you say about that? All those scooters being sold... dare I...? Teflon-Mike, Teflon-Mike, Te... no, I can't, I'm too scared. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Commuters, price of petrol, congestion charge, hike in train fares, car drivers can ride with just a CBT, a fair bit could be said about that.
Is it not the case Honda's figures include scooters too.
Yamaha makes a few scooters too, some of which appeal to a certain section of the population (burberry wearing I believe ) ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

I believe so, the best selling 126-650cc bike was the "Piaggo Vespa GTS 300".
Blimey, the best selling 125 was the Honda PCX 125 scooter.
Fuck it, I'm doing it.

the V-strom... Now if they made a 125 one of those... |
so a Suzi take on the Varadero 125. I'd go with that. Oh, wait, what about build quality? On second thoughts...
On sort of topic I know Honda has different production plants around the world, Mexico, Brazil, Spain to name a few plus tie-ins with Indian bike makers. Does anyone know if any of the other bike makers have such a diverse production capability? ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Verydearos are so named because they cost £4,500. I expect there's a magic number less than 4500 where the quality starts to become less of an issue.
I suspect that that Suzuki's shock #3 spot in September was down to deals on the V-Strom. It was the best selling 126-650 bike, they'd discounted it (again), were offering 3 years warranty (now withdrawn), and are pitching it with all sorts of different "packs" to try and appeal to as many users as possible.

Dunno. On rumour and anecdote, Kawasaki are the worst off for trying to stay Japanese based.
Suzuki are closing their Spanish bike factory, and Suzuki US cars are bankrupt, so it's really not looking too clever for them. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Speaking of said it before...

They're doing well, it appears when a Chinese manufacturer behaves like a proper bike maker and has a dealer network they sell well. |
Lexmoto are an importer, not a manufacturer. They sell bikes from many different manufacturer, most of which you could or can buy elsewhere with a different badge.
100% agree that Suzuki's UK model range is just crazy. No commuter or "sports" 125, overlaps in every other category.
OK, Suzuki dealers seem to fill the gap by selling Ching Chong 125s, but that's just tarnishing Suzuki's value. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
