Hi, got a massive sheet of 1mm galvanised steel but having trouble welding it neatly.
Googled it and Im suppose to increase the heat to melt the coating but as its only thin its putting far too many holes in it.
Any ideas?
Using a cheap Mig welder BTW.
Thanks, Grant

If weather picks up Il try to do as much welding as I can outside to reduce the risk.

Is this on a car? If so, what type of car and whereabouts on the body?

Galvanising is only a surface effect. Grind it off and then just use normal welding proceedures.

Just grind the coating off , also as said above galv flu is a cunt , either do it outside or wear a mask !

Made a roof rack out of galv for my mates landy and I was unaware of galv flu ! But all I did was just grind off all the coating

those face masks will not do shit.

mig-welding.co.uk

It doesnt make any difference to the weld settings..

so learn to weld, or how to set up your cheap mig. I imagine you need to reduce wire speed and power.

power sets voltage. wire speed sets current.

Sand off the zinc coating. dont breath it in.
