I got my R6 out today to start her up, check her over, and admire. Turned the bike off, and took the filler cap off the engine to look inside, and i saw a creamy white substance inside! it did not smell pleasant either... so now I'm panicking.
I checked the dipstick and there is none on it, just clean oil.
I took a couple of pictures.

It sounds fine too.

Creamy mixture is usually oil with water. Check coolant level, if it is low then it maybe head gasket. Most probably is you just do short rides/not run it in a while, it may need a good run, get the oil hot and the water should evaporate.

Just make sure it isn't your coolant leaking into the water jacket.

Most likely just condensation in the oil so don't panic just yet.

A good long hard ride should clear that up.

You should have asked for one without Mayo.... Rolling Eyes

It's probably just condensation from the shitty weather. As said short rides cause this a lot where the 'whole' engine doesn't get up to running temperature for long enough to 'burn' off the moisture from combustion. Fuel is a Hydrocarbon and burning it combines the hydrogen with oxygen to make H2O. The oil washes it off the bore/s as the engine runs.
When it gets hot enough the water is blown out as steam (water as a gas).

Cold engines allow the moistur from combustion condense on cold surfaces as mist does on cold glass/motorcycle visors.

If it's all milky in there then it is not simply condesation and you need to check cooling system.

Also worth checking the drain hose for the breather is clear. Smile

I hope so... so if its going to sit out for the winter, would it be best to not start it at all? surely this condensation cant be healthy for the engine?....

Ill check the coolant to be on the safe side.
My hornet doesn't get this condensation in the engine though...

Condensation is normal in winter, especially on bikes used for short journeys. While it isn't doing the best for the engine, starting the engine but not getting it well and truely hot will make the problem worse.

All the best

I did fully expect a endless amount of jizz jokes, but am very grateful indeed for the lack of such jokes.

- is there anything i can do about it other than take it for a long ride? ...

Cheers

Change the oil or take it for a long ride.

Nothing other than that though really.
