It's a breach of data protection, it's very much against NHS policy.
I am constantly telling clinicians and GP staffs to be more careful, they tear up prescriptions and throw them in the recycling instead of confidential waste and all sorts otherwise
Managers take it seriously. You could easily report it.
Noone in particular may get bollocked as they wont be able to blame anyone, the most that will happen is probably a reminder to all staff to be more careful. ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

actually if it wasnt for the foreign doctors, nurses, GP's and dentists there would be an even bigger problem.
these people who come over to this country and get registered are doing this country a great service by filling in some of that massive whole which is a shortage of qualified medical professionals.
and i've heard that they are also some of the best in their fields.
if i was going in for major surgery i wouldnt give a rats arse where they came from as long as they can do the job and do it well.
when i was like 7 i had appendicitis, had an african surgeon do the operation. barely have a scare, barely had any post surgical pain.
the guy literally saved my life, cut me open, lifted my appendix out and then it exploded over the OR.
the house call doctor, some English Caucasian dude, kept saying "keep giving him cold baths, its just a fever"
yeah a fever in my lower abdomen causing excruciating pain? i dont fucking think so.
my point is, dont mock the foreign medical professionals. they are here more for our benefit that their own.
and frankly im happy knowing that these professions are staffed as much as possible, regardless of their background. ____________________ BCF's biggest cunt list: Cansa, Pits, Rob |

If someone had a camera (e.g. mobile phone ) take pics of car and documents for evidence perhaps?
Might not use it now but if some other stuff is mentioned worth producing? (depends on context of course).
As said, probably just a slapped wrist or e-mail reminder. I've heard a story of a ward where the only qualified nurse on duty went off-site shopping and no action taken (don't have any corroboration of this story). |
It would be more than a slapped wrist. Likely disciplinary I would say.
Information governance is taken proper seriously, almost certainly because of the huge costs of fines to the trust for fucking it up
When I worked in the community I had to carry patients notes in my car, but I would have been rogered beyond belief if I had left them in the car, let alone on public view. All they would need to do was to phone the patient, ask who had been out to see them that day, and bobs your uncle.
In my case they could have looked the patient up on the computer system we use, and see who had an appointment to see them that day and take it from there. ____________________ "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." Hunter S Thompson

I worked on the demolition of a large hospital, and in one area there were emptied-out filing cabinets of patient records strewn about the floor. This was in the days before computer records and data protection act. Complete records including names, addresses, photos, scans and x-rays of breast scanned patients just abandoned in the x-ray area when they cleared out the hospital and I guess one of the demo goons had thought it fun to spill them out to look at the photos of tits.
Completely disgusting way to treat the most personal of people's information and even more important nowadays to keep it secure. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'
