I've recently bought a honda mtx 125 and have put new cdi new battery and new wiring loom into the electrical system , I have put the bike together and I have no spark at all , and also the neutral light doesn't seem to come on , unless I give the kick start a few kick it will flicker then come on but then I kick it again it will go off ! Any ideas on what the problem is ?

whip off the tank and check the connections where the engine loom joins the main loom (l/h/s of the frame)
these can corroded and often need some 'patient' cleaning out Wink
mine was doing a similar thing and the above, and cleaning the earth connections seemed to sort it ouf Thumbs Up

Thanks for that , I've noticed the earth was dodgey because when I moved it about the light would flicker on and off , maybe it's not earthing because I've painted the frame ? Also did your bike have no spark because of this aswell ?

yes mine had no spark untill i wiggled the wiring at the point of the connectors, then it started straight up,
i still had no headlight untill i stripped and cleaned the connectors tho,
they looked clean enough but infact had a clear'ish coating of...... something yucky on them, some tarnish type crap that i had to gently scrape off with a blade, then clean with fine sandpaper,

good luck mate Thumbs Up

Hi there I've got the neutral light working by cleaning up the wiring , I've still got no spark though ! Any suggestions as to what could be the root of the problem ?? Thanks

If you painted the frame remove some of the paint so that the CDI mounting points mount to the bare metal frame. Also make sure that the engine is earthed.
