I think i want a pair instead leather bottoms at the moment, was thinking RST ones?

Link in there to ebay seller, can vouch they are comfy to wear and done me well so far for the last 2 months riding in a variety of conditions.

Can't comment on how they hold up in a crash, but you get some CE armour in the knees and around the hip so probably better than nothing Thumbs Up

Eh.

I wear black Draggin' jeans as office wear. I'm not kidding myself that they'd protect as well as leather, but they're all day comfy, and life is about compromises. They came without armour pockets Thumbs Down so I just sewed some elastic loops in and use those to hold knee armour in place.

If I had been picking and choosing (I went eBay used), I'd have gone for Sartso or Hood rather than Draggin'.

Mine are comfy and have armor pads in the knees but luckily I don't know yet how they hold up in anything other than a minor slip (cow dung on a tiny country road so I had a soft landing anyway Smile). They dry out fairly quickly.

Watched a video review on youtube of kevlar jeans just after i had bought mine, the reviewer tested them by putting manakins in the jeans and dragging them along at different speeds. Reviewer came to the conclusion that above 50mph most of the jeans would just disintergrate. Saying that, i wear my rst jeans often and they are comfy and they feel pretty sturdy.

I've got a pair of Hornee(stupid name) kevlar jeans, I have no idea how much protection they'd offer in a crash, but despite having almost every type of motorcycle clothing I found myself riding in normal jeans a lot if I was just popping into town or meeting friends ect. So thought that they would be better then nothing in an off. Nobody has ever commented on them as they just look like normal jeans which is what I wanted, some of the kevlar jeans you see for sale aren't exactly very stylish Smile
Think I'd probably get textiles if I was only going to have one type of motorcycle clothing though.

On 2nd pair now - their ok - but ive come to the conclusion, that you need to buy the high end ones - the sub 50 quid ones are not upto the stakes needed when it comes to comfy ness, and off course looks.

The cheaper ones seem fine with the oe armour and Kevlar.

I have a set. These:

https://www.xkulcha.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=67&Itemid=132

They are a good idea but I dont wear them often. Weekends offroad I wear proper enduro trousers and boots. commuting i just wear office trousers and footwear.

I wear them on a weekend when I am going on a short trip biking only, or to the shop and I just woke up and in my underwear.

If you are of the type that feels he needs to suit up, they are practical. But I can happily ride in t-shirt, shorts, veldskoens. Just helmet and gloves. Trousers are my last choice.

For the short day trip they are ideal if you are not comfortable in shorts or normal trousers

There are different phases in biking:

Young riders who feel invulnerable and have never fallen: NO ATGATT
Young riders still not comfortable but have seen falls: FULL attgatt
medium riders with no fall: gain experience above the young rider above and start chucking atgatt
medium rider after a fall: full atgatt
older riders with experience who have had a fall(s) and doent give a fuck anymore: chuck atgatt

Im in the last phase. But off road, I do boots pants, jackets gloves. comes from off raod falls Mr. Green But hey, if you are in any atgatt phase, go for it. It is a normal cycle. It changes over time. Just hope your off happens in an atgatt phase.

Haha I've had a couple of offs, and I haven't ran to the local bike shop and bought full leathers, I always wear gloves and textile jacket as minimum as I have hurt my hands before and do not wish to go through that again!

Cheers for the advice

I have Kevlar jeans (£70 from the Bay of e) - pretty much as above^ - they're a good compromise between safety & practicality and are quite comfy for when you get to your destination.

Read the testimonials on Hood Jeans website Thumbs Up
I love wearing mine with my leather jacket when it's not raining. Only criticism is that the knee armour can be awkward to position, mines still not fitting right.
They are also pretty decent at keeping you warm from wind chill Thumbs Up

Had a pair of Hood Concept 6's for about 4 years now with close to 5 days a week use. They've been down the road (with me in them) at a little under 30mph and all they had were an insignificant scuff. One loose thread but everything else is still attached and working.

The knee armour fits well in mine. I got the hip armour as well that I can wedge in if I want.

They're proper quality, comfortable kevlar jeans and have proven their worth.

I crashed in Kevlar jeans before and they were great. The denim ripped (obviously) but the kevlar underneath was fine and really saved me a lot of pain. I just sewn up the denim again and still use them now.

Hi there

I have my first pair of Kevlar jeans on order from grin factor, £70 with knee and hip armor, will see how they feel next week when they arrive. As there was a mixup with my order, so they are putting in a few goodys for good will.

They also have double fully lined cargos, which interests me as I like my cargos lol, but will see what the jeans are like first.

I bought those exact same jeans but from a different seller. I can confirm that they are pretty good and as far as value for money goes you will not beat them (I spent about £50 on mine though, wish I'd seen that ad first! Same but cheaper).

Only complaint is that when riding the knee protectors slide up so they aren't really covering my knee much anymore, if at all.

I got kevlar jeans because I wanted clothing that I could wear casually as well as on the bike, to provide protection.

Also, they seem to let a breeze in sometimes at the bottom, no idea why as they definitely cover the tops of my boots and then some Confused

I got some Sartso ones from good old ebay and they are just as comfortable as 'normal' jeans. The only problem with the women's ones as there is nowhere to put any armour, so thinking of making some knee pockets to put some in.

I've got some RST kevlar jeans. They seem good to me. They came with knee armour and thigh armour. Little pockets built in so can take them out if required. Thumbs Up

I've had one spill with them, coming off a roundabout slipping on diesel at about 30-40mph. They were fine, didn't get any cuts or major damage, a couple of bruises. Luckily I didn't hit any other vehicles or a lamp post upon exit from bike. Just jumped back on bike and went on into work and reported the spillage.

I got mine from Australian Bikers Gear, about £65ish.
Comes with more kevlar than most Draggin jeans and hip/knee armour.

I own Draggins (£110 new) and Roadmasters (£15.50 second hand). The draggins are overpriced for what they are, and to be honest I regret spending £110 on them.

Both are good jeans, I've used them both hard (lots of riding in all weather, frequent 4 mile walks in muddy fields etc). I view them as equals, even though one cost a huge amount more than the other.
The draggins lack armour but are slightly better quality, the Roadmasters have armour and are still good quality.

Kevlar works, it's strong but light enough to wear everyday, I also have a Draggin kevlar jacket and I think that's brilliant too, I got that at the right price (£35 second hand VGC).

Draggin, for the money, should at least come with armour.

Yup, I was very surprised that my Draggin's didn't - I hadn't even thought to ask, it seemed so obvious that they would.

Might as well. shereen (is she deaded?) was having a moan about the womyns' Sartsos as well: IIRC, they were talking about freebeeing her some in-production ones to try them out.

Kevlars probably aren't going to hold up when compared to leathers, but on those unbearably hot days when your concentration is likely going to suffer when you're squelched into them leather trews (and possibly lead to a silly accident, jeans are a reasonable compromise.

I plan on picking up a new pair in the summer but if you're a chunky-ish person, I have a pair of 40 R Red Routes lying around that are way too big on me now that you'd be welcome to have for £20 or so (+P&P obv.).

The best thing about kev jeans is comfort, and they look casual, so you dont even need to get changed.
