Bandit. great condition. 2001, 20k
1650
(dealer - will be preserviced etc)

Good price to pay?

Bandit, 1998, 52k, good condition, £900

My question is, would the 1650 hold its value (it is unlikely i'll add more than 4k to the clocks a year). is it a good price to py or should I keep looking elsewhere.

Also know of a 2003, zr750, 10k, for about 1800. But I think the bandit looks nicer.

go with the kawasaki if its gonna be a toy, the bandit if commuting, the Z750 is the best option, good on insurance too..

That's not a bad price for a dealer really.
On Ebay, they tend to go for between £1200-1400 for a 01 model.

Why not buy my Triumph Speed Four instead, far superior to both Z750 and bandit. Razz

I've just bought my bandit from a dealer
99 plate
20k miles
Very good nick and some extras
1600

I know this is slightly inflated but I wanted the piece of mind a dealer gives you for my first big bike.

Hornets are another option, but from what I've heard the tank range is terrible

I have a hornet 900 as my first big bike and it's tank range is the same as a hornet 600...both are terrible. 100 miles to fill up, apart from that it's better in every single way compared to a bandit, which i was thinking of getting

and another plus is that they sound incredible Laughing

I think the mileage is more to do with the size of the tank rather than the MPG isn't it?

MPG is fine.

Tank size is the only problem. But if you don't mind filling up every 100-130 miles then it's better in every way.

Tank size on a 1998-2002 Hornet is 16L.

Friend has a 2006 Bandit 650 (last of the oil cooled ones) with about 75k miles on it, and it still runs absolutely perfectly. Other than a bit of rust on the frame we've had to sort out it is still pretty new looking. So don't let mileage put you off if there is decent service history with it.

Mine's 2002, was listed on eBay for the same price but with just under 12k on the clocks... 11 months MOT can't remember the date on the tax disc and it's currently parked with that side nearest the garage wall, has a scottoiler and aftermarket exhaust... Anyway knocked it down to £1500...

HAVE you looked on ebay? I saved a search for Bandit's under £2000 and kept my eye on it.

Honest advice coming from a dude that loves motorcycles more than he loves himself, (salty comment, but its true)

Anyway, honest advice.
I would go for the 2001 bandit over the Kawasaki and 1998 bandit with 50k miles? JHEEZE
Reasons: Resale value, MPG, parts, if you crash it into a wall, you can repair it without having to move house 3x or get used to eating £1 noodles.

THEN go for the zr750.
In reality, if i crashed or even got LOTS of small scratches on a ZR-7 derivation i would literally punch myself pretty hard! but a bandit, you can't go wrong.

I'm not questioning reliability of both bikes because it would be a naive thing to do but an 01 bandit with 20k on it and for under 1800 is a bargain AS LONG AS it's been kept in good condition and serviced properly.
