Battery charger!

Is the fuel tap turned on?
Does the starter motor turn?
Does it have a spark?

you don't know how to start it. Not a bad thing, I'm still learning how to start the CBR. If you are using the choke don't touch the throttle, starter and a bit of throttle to start it works for me, then throttle off and adjust the choke.

Jump starting will do you a favour, as you haven't got a flat battery to worry about Smile

does the starter motor turn? erm i think so.. it makes a noise like it wants to start but when i rev it .. like it doesn's start like normal... (if that makes sense)
i have sometimes started it with the kickstart but today it was having none of it!
and my bike doesn't have a kill switch either lol

Another +1 for this.

I tried bump starting my bike the other day. Ran half way down the street with it almost starting and cutting out before I noticed the kill switch -.-

You are joking, right? Shocked

Take battery off bike, get a 13 amp plug with some wire on it, strip the ends off and attach them to the terminals on the battery Thumbs Up

Disclaimer: any explosions, fires, or other damage caused by this is not my fault.

NB: Don't really do this, take battery off bike and attach what's commonly known as a battery charger to it and leave overnight.

also it sounds like you've flooded it. if it hasn't started after 10 seconds, leave it 30 seconds before starting again. also check your side stand, the bike shouldn't start with that down.

+1 apart from the side stand. It should start with that down as long as it's in neutral - unless you've got a fault in the sidestand/clutch switch circuit of course...

If you've flooded it then whip the plug out, close the choke and throttle and spin it over a few times - it'll clear the excess fuel out of the cylinder. Thumbs Up

+1 for it being flooded. Using full choke a lot, and revving it, will quickly flood the ending with fuel.

Voltmeter on the battery, charge it up, if it's still under-volting, that's a problem for the dealer.

Buy a Chinese bike and your first purchase should be a multimeter. It takes all the guesswork out of it.

You can get one delivered for under £5, or find them in Argos, Halfrauds, B&Q or Maplin. They will also provide a battery charger, as will any bike shop. Make sure that you get one suitable for motorcycle use, with a charge rate no higher than 1 amp (500 mA is safer, you'll have a small battery).

YouTube will provide HowTo videos.

Your "new" bike could have been sitting around for months with its battery slowly draining before you rode it away. It might never have been properly charged.

I keep my batteries on trickle charge constantly. You can buy a 12v power socket for a few £££ which you can attach to the battery and which will let you plug in a charger without even getting access to the battery. I have a solar charger on my GPZ that I keep permanently attacked and tucked in the transparent pocket on my tank bag.
