The XT600 is a go anywhere bike, flat-ish single-cylinder power delivery, decent traction off the line, it will happily sit at 60 all day. 80 is pushing it, will chug up to whatever.
The bike proved itself capable in Mongolia, in UlaanBaatar I met another rider, Alex from Kent, riding a TTR250 which proved itself quite capable too!
What is it you want that the 250 is lacking? Power?
For purely road riding you would be better with a CB500 or a bloody ZX6R,
My XT600 is a decent commuter but I'm going to sell because while it will happily serve as a commuter its wasted if you are not taking it off-road. It is drawn to agriculture
Cant comment about the XR600, never ridden one... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

The oil change is fiddly TBH, They invariably take more than the stated 2.7 litres, fill up the tank, run the engine briefly to get the oil circulating, see that oil level has dropped off dramatically, top up further, take the bike for a 10 minute run and then some minor adjustment, on the plus, once you actually have the correct amount of oil in they dont really burn any. ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |
