Just tried to fit heated grips to Recluso's bike and discovered that it has extemely narrow grips. The bars are the standard 22mm wide but the grips are only 118mm long not the standard 125/130 which with the addition of Yamaha bar ends which can't be spaced out means that normal heated grips won't fit.
I've seen the Oxford Hot Grips Premium touring which can be cut down to 114mm but at £75 they are a bit on the pricey side.

So does anyone have a recommendation of heated grips that will actually fit and allow you to retain the OEM bar ends?

Yes. Symtec under grip heaters stick to the bar itself. Put the original grips back over them.

They work well had them on Mrs. stinkwheels CB500 for a couple of years now. I can't hang on to them for long with them on high but she thinks they're fantastic and they prevent her Reynolds syndrome being triggered.

The cheapo Chinese copies don't work very well, I'm going to replace mine with Symtec ones. Although in fairness, the time consuming bit was the wiring for them, the grips are easily changed over and it was worth a £4 gamble.

I've cut down my Oxford essential grips as they won't fit with my Barkbusters on. They look a bit tatty mind and thinking about it I haven't tested it yet. Partly because the control unit is hidden under my muffs.

While cutting I didn't see any evidence that I cut any tracks/heating element wiring.

I had to use and find) a counter-sunk screw of a weird size when I fitted mine.Probably why I didn't bother and don't have bar ends, what's the worst that can happen!

What year Diversion?

I fitted R&G grips to my '95 Diversion with no problems at all.

I'll measure mine in the morning, it feels like my hands are too big for the grips so possibly the same size.

Will answer tomorrow Thumbs Up

Its a 12 reg diversion, the new model. The earlier model used 130mm grips.

Whaaaa? Do I need to update my personnel records? Eh?

Really bargain basement £5-delivered-from-China heating elements worked OK on my 125. It's just two resistor sheets (which from memory will be narrow enough), wiring, on/off switch and some heat shrink covers. The whole lot goes over the grips, takes a few minutes to fit, and the heat gets straight to your hands. What's not to like?

I see nothing at all preventing you from fitting them up to and even under the switchgear (although I wouldn't make a hole for a rowlpin through them).

So far all I've found regarding the grip size is:

a. Implication that Oxford grips were used and cut down

b. Use the R&G racing ones recommended for the model (which have had reasonable reviews).

Have found loads of the 2009 - 2012 range for sale and all with heated grips. They just don't bloody say which grips they are!!
