Posted: 23:03 - 12 Dec 2012 Post subject: Two questions - crash bars and winter storage |
 |
|
Thought I'd test BCF's ability to multitask with this thread.
Two things on my mind
1. Winter storage - I'm going to be away for five weeks, possibly six weeks, and I'm wondering how I should prep the bike for such a long time of non-use? Remove battery and...anything else?
2. Crash bars for a GPZ500 - I've found some crash bars on the net made by renntec, they're quite expensive. Bungs are cheaper but involve drilling through or removing the lower fairing which I don't want to do. Are bars difficult to install and...is there anywhere that sells them for less than £100??
Hope the cold weather riding is going well! Forecast for Sunday is 10 degrees , I'll definitely be out for a ride - in my t-shirt and shorts! I won't get road rash if I just slide along on ice, right? Right...? ____________________ I'm autistic. That means I'm smarter than you. |

got bars on mine, never had to test them but they look and feel sturdy enough. You can also stick your feet out and use them like cruiser footrests ____________________ Ybr 125 > Bandit 650SA > GSXR 600 > Triumph Sprint St1050 > CB1300 > Z1000SX + FJ1200 (written off) > VFR750 >FJ1200 |

Oh, and crash bars - buy a reputable make because, a bit like cheapy bungs, if they aren't mounted on strong points on the frame, they will do more harm than good. Look on the bright side, my crash bars for my Tiger were £175 ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Maybe isolate the tyres from the cold ground. On the centre stand and some plywood underneath them.
Ensure antifreeze strength is correct. ____________________ 22PlusY
