Going along a dual carriageway this evening, and a bird managed to fly into my bike! Shocked

Must have been doing 50/60 up hill, when all of a sudden I see this massive falcon/hawk take off from the verge and fly across the road and hit the front end.

Was bracing myself for the bike to lose control and me coming off, but luckily it missed the front wheel and hit the engine instead.
Although it seems in the split second the bird was in contact with the bike, it managed to empty the contents of it's bowel all over the engine. Now there's baked on bird shit on the casing and coolant pipes. Laughing

Cool story bro and all that.

I hit a bird at speed. My mate who was following me said I just disappeared in a huge cloud of feathers.

A couple of weeks later, he started to notice a funny smell.

That made me laugh stinkwheel Laughing

I had a birdstrike the 3rd day I got the bandit. Pheasants are known round here to do a suicide run across the road then start flying right in front of the bike.

Smashed the flyscreen into a gazillion pieces and bent the clocks forward and also bounced off my lid. Found it rather amusing if anything Laughing

I hit a pigeon with my helmet at about 25mph in London.

Pigeons are heavier than you think, even at that low a speed, you would not want to hit them going much faster. And they stink.

I was going about 50-60 when I was hit, even the glancing blow felt like I'd been hit with a brick

It's only a matter of time before I run over - or am flown into by - a pheasant. There are approximately 5 trillion of them round here - they are hand-reared then freed to roam the surrounding fields where they're picked off with shotguns. It's really good fun, blowing fuck out of these splendid creatures - all of which have been trained to walk towards humans, expecting to be fed. A blast from a 12 bore will see them explode in blood and feathers. Gotta love it.

I've hit a pigeon at around 80, head on in the face. Luckily I saw it coming so could brace, but I still had to pull onto the hard shoulder to get my breath back. The driver in the car next to me looked more terrified than I was Mr. Green

Another thread I really wish I hadn't clicked on Sick Poor birds.

You know, a friend once told me that if a bird flies into your car (or bike I guess!) then the chances are highly likely that it was ill/on it's way out anyway as they are very unlikely to make such poor judgement when in top form..........

......... made me feel better anyway, even if I am coming to think it might not be quite true that Crying or Very sad

Only ever done it in a car. Rows of bushes along a country road and it just flew out about 2 foot straight into me.

cause they're hand reared a lot of em. Keepers arrive on quad bikes with the grain, so when they hear bike engines they come running. At least round here.
