Any decent school will charge you a fee to get your CBT done and if you require additional training it should be at no additional cost. Giving you less than an hour, telling you to naff off and then expecting more money from you is (quite frankly) taking the piss.
Find another school and complain to the other one ____________________ Theory test - 19/8/09, CBT - 11/10/09, MOD 1 - 16/8/10, MOD 2 - 27/10/10

You can do a CBT on a scooter. It makes no difference on your certificate and make the first steps a lot easier. ____________________ MCForum meetup - One of the biggest motorcycle clubs in UK |

I'm so upset by it all. I honestly had less than 1 hour on the actual bike, and he already knew the girl who he was also teaching. It really annoyed me when he said "when you come back" after only 30 mins on the bike. That made the whole thing feel worthwile. Bloody CAM rider!
I did enjoy riding the little Suzuki around though

I'll agree with the above posters. You've been fobbed off by an instructor with no patience to teach a new biker and looking to unnecessarily milk you for more money.
I had my CBT with One2One and, as a complete newbie, I was frankly s*** for the first 3 hours of riding, I couldn't even get the bike on the centre stand ffs. The patient instructor persevered even through me skidding on the e-stop. It took 8 hours in all but me and everyone else on the course passed (aside from a young lad whose ped broke down just before the road ride).
Kick up a fuss and/or go with another school that hires better instructors ____________________ Honda CB500s (1999) - Honda CG 125 BR-J (1991)

Which CAM Rider site was it?
For what it's worth, if what you've said is accurate that instructor is piss poor and ought to have their ticket pulled. I'd not only be demanding my money back from www.camrider.com, but also getting in touch with the DSA about them.
While I doubt CAM Rider would give you the information, I'd also be asking whether the instructor was on a yellow or blue ticket, and when they were last assessed by the DSA.
Are there any other schools in the area other than www.camrider.com? ____________________ Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable. |

It was the Kettering site. TBh if I was a terrible rider and after a good few hours I was still crap, I'd be the first to hold my hands up and say I needed more training. But hand on heart, I was on that bike for less than an hour. He also kept taking the bike of me and "showing" me how it's done. Yeah that helped |

On my CBT I was with a woman that had never sat on a bike before. We spent a long-time as she became more and more confident, I used my time to practice. The upshot was that we went over-time before hitting the road for the two-hour section... the school, just let us ride until:
a: we had completed two-hours minimum
b: until we were both at a safe standard
It was a longer day than planned but no additional cost and bloody good customer service.
The woman on the course was left with confidence to ride to work the next day and, IMHO, perfectly safely. ____________________ 22PlusY

Less than an hour when you paid up front? I'd be demanding my money back.

Reading these posts I'm actually more upset. It's like my money wasn't good engough. I did ask why I couldn't have longer, but he needed to get the other learner on the road. I should have kicked up more of a fuss when I was there. |
Sorry, I didn't intend for my post to make you feel any worse
Do worry about it though, the instructor was being an arse and there was nothing wrong with you as rider. It's not like have thousands of other completely new riders taking a CBT every year, oh wait...
I had a kind of similar experience though when I was first learning to drive a car at 17. I was my 2nd lesson with "one-man-band" driving school, me very nervous having barely driven before, he got very impatient and irate with my driving which made me feel awfully stressed. I never came back for a third lesson and didn't take up lessons for another year when my dad stumped up the money for my 18th birthday. I went with a larger local school with a very patient instructor, both my sisters had passed with them previously. After 35 (yes 35 ) lessons I passed my test 1st time, albeit with 8 minors
There are bad people in all institutions and you just happened to be stuck with one on a bad day.
Just kick up a fuss though, you paid for a full day of training and got an 1/8 of and no certificate to show all because the instructor was CBA to teach you how to ride ____________________ Honda CB500s (1999) - Honda CG 125 BR-J (1991)
