Wasn't quite as clean as that one but the bloke with the garage down from my mates had one sat for years, carbs probably gummed up and other consumables likely needed renewing .....he wanted £300, if I had been after one &/or had seen what they go for would have ripped his arm off, oh well.

I must just be tight, I think it is way overpriced. 14 years old and 27k on the clocks? I would have said £900 was closer. What makes it worth the asking price?

Shocked HOW MUCH!

What am I missing, I can't see why they are worth so much?

I'd hold on to your money, son.

You'll need it when you come to insure anything bigger than your tart's handbag 125.

He'll be fine, he'll just get some more off his Mum. Did he ever explain his photoshopped bank statement?

They are cracking bikes. Ultra reliable, simple, shaft drive. Wonderful tourers. There isn't another bike like it in that price range and that's why they keep their prices so well.

Yamaha made two major fuck ups around these bikes. They stopped making the XJ900 and they didn't make the FJ1200 shaft drive to take it's place. Silly Yamaha.

Maybe it wasn't, but neither was it a salary.

1. You've already said you're 17, hence have no experience or qualifications.
2. You've already said you work for 30h per week.
3. That level of monthly salary would imply an annual salary of some £41k, iirc (somebody did the sums).
4. The payment details were 'Streatham'; against the salary payment you'd have the name of your company or the payroll agency.

Ergo, it wasn't a salary, as there's no 17-year-old in the country who does 30h a week and earns £41k annual salary.

I suspect it was an early Christmas present from your Mum or maybe a tax rebate, paid in cash/cheque into your bank's Streatham branch.

I'd take the higher milage XJ900 that was on here for half the price and get myself a (race) pit bike supermoto with the spare cash Smile.

I would love a blackbird!

I tend to think it looks like an "old mans" bike. Owners, please don't take offense to this, this is a big part of the appeal to me. To unknowing car drivers, it certainly does not appear likely to have been the "worlds fastest production bike".

I'd keep the stock cans on it for extra stealth.

Stealth isn't a good thing on a bike though, sadly.
