So yesterday evening before work,i was out on my bike for a lil play and it was around 5pm heading home.. I pulled out of a junction and onto the main road and popped it up on the back wheel abit foolish of me to be fare because it was dark and as I passed the headlights of the car approaching me I happend to notice the big reflective "police" Doh! lettering on the side of the car although they didn't turn around and follow me or give chase obviously as soon as I had seen the fuzz I dropped the front wheel and just casually rode like nothing had happend now I don't know if he got my plate? or anything cause it was dark..but should I just pray for the best, and mark this down to experience and stop being a tit on empty roads ? Rolling Eyes

What I'm wondering is has this happened to anyone else?

Oh and erm..supermoto's FTW Thumbs Up

So what you are saying is you accidentally went down a gear instead of up a gear and the front end lifted. Thumbs Up

That happens all the time. Wink

I've still got a caution that reads "Pulled a wheelie on a main road"

I said it was a new bike and I wasn't used to the power. It's semi true, it was a new bike, but it was half the power of the previous one. Laughing

Unless they stopped you there and then, youll be fine.
I uploaded a video of me on the back wheel doing a 5 mile wheelie up the M20 and the police found it. Came to my house. Got away due to hugh lack of evidence that it was me riding the bike.

Wouldnt worry about it.

Traced the IP of his computer, then got his address, then had a look with DVLA for the registration of the bike. Least I presume that's what they did. Or something along them lines.

At OP: They won't do anything. Chances are, they were just them units that go out tackling youths getting drunk. Wouldn't be a problem, as they didn't stop you. Stop worrying. And if you continue doing wheelies, do it when there's no headlights coming towards you. Laughing

The police have the power to get IP addresses from youtube to go and get people for traffic offences? I mean, if someone posted a video which ended with them riding up the drive to their house, I can see how they may get the attention. But to go to youtube, ask for an IP address, to go to the telecomms company to find out who is he just to go knocking on his door but not actually end up with a result, all seems a bit much.

Can and do.

One forum member had his front door kicked in at 7am one morning, half a dozen coppers came in, arrested him on suspicion of Dangerous Driving, searched his house and seized all his computer and motorcycle equipment. This was after posting a video on youtube of him pissing about up on the Cat and Fiddle.

He wasn't prosecuted in the end but they had his stuff for quite a while before he was let off the hook.

R500 - Fail to keep all wheels on road surface.... Crying or Very sad

Unmarked cop car. Said he only caught me due to the next light being red or he said he never would have caught me as I was receding before his eyes when he saw the bike go up in the air Laughing

Yup.

It was me Stinkwheel was on about, Police asked youtube for IP, then contacted my ISP using the IP and asked for my address. Raided the house taking everything bike related/computer related (including the bike and PC, SD cards etc.) Then picked me up from work to arrest me.

Collated everything they could see in the video to everything they had as evidence. ie. gloves, leathers, saw the helmet in the mirror, matched an A537 side panel sticker in the video to the one on my bike.

Showed me and the solicitor the footage at the station, had me wheelying at 150 past a football stadium, wheelying into oncoming traffic, crossing double whites, racing, blah blah blah.

I didn't film my face or plate, solicitor said due to the amount of evidence against me it would be wiser to admit it was me, either that or they keep my bike/PC for a very long time until the case went to court, She also said that if I decided to say it wasn't me, then they'd send the PC off to forensics to check any other video's on there that weren't on youtube. And that would have seriously f*cked me over because all my gopro raw unedited footage was on it.

That's an awful lot of time, money and police resources for THAT! You have any idea how much computer forensics people cost? For someone who didn't murder or commit and armed robbery, that's severe overkill. Did you get fined?

Case was sent to CPS, and came back as not being in the publics interest to prosecute. The police explained that they had been watching even after I was raided and saw the threads saying how I'd fell into depression and regretted what I'd done. It helped that I'd worked all my life, paid my taxes, owned my own house, had a clean license, no criminal record, basically a moment of madness.

Then how did they know it was you on the bike?
If you put something like "This video is not me, I just uploaded it" then how can they say it is you?

Not me doubting you by the way, I'm curious for my own security!

after speaking to the solicitor, watching the footage together, collating how much evidence they had against me we decided to admit it was me in the video. my solicitor told me not to say a fucking word to any of the questions when we went to interview, don't nod my head, don't make any noises, don't shrug etc.

When the interview started my solicitor read out a pre-interview statement, basically saying I am admitting it was me in the video.

The police then began their interview questions, basically the more I admitted to the more they could pin on me, I was already told from what they had seen it would be a prison sentence. They asked questions like, Do you admit you broke the speed limit, do you admit that you were racing your friend Jason ( who they had also raided! ) do you think you were putting others at risk with your riding.

They basically wanted me to admit to driving without due care, or dangerous driving which makes their job easier, but I wasn't. My solicitor was a star and only made me agree that it was me in the video and it was up to the Police/CPS to prove otherwise. If it wasn't for her I would have probably fucked up and shook my head when they asked if I was speeding or something which the police would said I was doing during the taped interview.

I was very lucky not to be made an example like some of the other bikers that have been jailed for their videos, I was spared, and given just a section 59. I was even allowed to collect my bike from Macclesfield recovery the same day (didn't cost much, about £100 IIRC.)

I've learned my lesson through all this, and so have other people that read my threads during my low time, a hell of a lot of people removed their video's from youtube which is exactly the point the police were trying to get across.

And just to show you how thorough they are, I found this yesterday.

Yep, you read it right, they actually took a rear sprocket as evidence. The stuff they actually took filled up a whole spare room at cheshire police station.

I remember one of the first well publicised ones was a guy doing ~140 down the M20 in an Exige I think. He got totally taken to the cleaners.

Makes me want to go all ghost rider and fully go anon and stick one to the police. I never speed of course...but if I did, I'd start uploading through proxies and making sure I don't identify myself.

I reiterate, fuck the police!

Best advice, is to use McDonalds wifi or a cafe's free wifi to upload your videos, NEVER upload from yours or a mates.
When making your youtube account, don't put any real details like your name/DOB.
Don't link your youtube account to your Facebook account ( a new option youtube introduced )

When filming, ie. from your tank looking forward, don't have your bloody name in stickers running up the screen.
Don't have any unique stickers on show (I had A537 Cat n fiddle stickers showing in my video)
and don't go pointing the camera at yourself, either on or off the bike.

Give the police the least evidence as possible to link you to the video. Think like them!

or... Just don't upload it Laughing
