Hi, sounds to me like your bike may have a common fault which is water/moisture in the fuel. You say you have drained the fuel in the carb but you may need to do more.
I assume the bike will run ok on tickover and low revs, what happens when you rev the bike on the centre stand. Have you checked the rollers as they do become squared off and this will cause them to stick, then release suddenly. Could even be the sparkplug.
Bit more info would help!

im not sure were the rollers are the bikes been doing it since i got it from esb motercycles i did take it to them all they did was check the carb and air filter and said it was fine but it really isnt as power loss still happens i checked oil this morning looks like it needs changing so im going to drain that next week and put new inn see if that helps.

cool. tell them it's not fit for the purpose and is endangering your life. you can also threaten legal action and tell them you will take the bike to vosa for inspection.

Had a similar fault although, on a much bigger bike.

We swapped the coils out, one was definitely faulty, poor contact from the coil to the plug cable. It was arcing over a break but, we think when accelerating, the gap increased to the point where the spark just wasn't strong enough.

If its still under warranty, get the shysters to sort it out.

Thumbs Up

I've actually got the same problem on my bike at the moment. As soon as it hits 6k theres a hesitation until it gets to 7k, it's fine after that.

I've been on KatRiders (forum for Katanas), they're convinced it's the jet needles in carbs, they need raising a little to richen to mixture a little in that rev range where the jet neddles are responsible for it.

My plan is:

New air filter, check all hoses, clean out tank vent pipe (it's definately blocked), then syncronise carbs.

If that doean't work i'm gonna adjust the needles as suggested.

I'm not sure if this helps you at all (as said above, it's under warranty), but it may help somebody else searching the forums.

hi new member here, well all i can say is that baotian scooters are a pile of dog mess. i bought mine new in 2011 and it went backwards and forwards to the shop nearly every month this is a list of the problems

2x snapped mudguard brackets, side stand spring falling off then engine cutting out remedy was to put a blob of weld on the stand and disconnect the lead for the stand.

cold starting problems in the winter months-advised to keep it inside !! until a mod was done

fuel tank sender unit packed up new one fitted then the fun and games began. constantly breaking down after having it fitted told theie was condensation in the tank causing the problem mmm tank was stripped and carb this was fine till it rained and hey ho it broke down again , back to the shop who were going to charge me as it was now 2 weeks out of warranty, soon put them right .Again even more water in the tank cause was a nipped seal on the sender unit allowing rain water into the tank. remedy was to put some sealant on the main seal refit and then smother the top of it in silicone.

now after trying to sell it with no luck i went to start it today and guess what water in the tank/carb. i stripped the carb to find a rusty brown gunk all over the sump bowl and inners of the carb.

seriously now thinking of going to trading standards as not fit for purpose so if any one is thinking of buying one of these scooters avoid them with a wide berth.

sorry rant over

It's a 50cc ped. They're designed to do 30mph. If you want more speed, get something bigger.
