Hi all,

I have a cbf 125 Honda which has about 8500 miles on it. Started the bike today..no issues.. But as soon as bike goes in first gear the engine stalls! Tried it a few times..same problem. The clutch at my end seems to be working fine. The engine on start sounds absolutely fine.

Was wondering what the problem could be.

Many thanks for advice.

Manish

That ^

Should be a switch on the side stand, check its working. I normally remove mine, join the wires and tape them out of the way.

Heh, I tucked the switch on my HN up under the seat straight out of the crate - they're a known failure point on those bikes.

The CBF125 side stand switch apparently looks like this:

Find it, make it not broken. Give it a clean with WD-40, iso-propyl alcohol, or whatever you have to hand, bit of a wiggle, clean any crud off, see if that gets you going. Worst case you can just remove it and either leave the circuit open or short it, depending on whether the switch opens or closes it with the stand up.

Put the bike in first with the engine off, pull in the clutch and see if it rolls. If it does move onto switches.

Hi guys,

Just to say a big THANK YOU. It did work. I mean when the bike is not on the side stand it works well. Is it supposed to be like that; I mean when on the side stand is it meant to not run?

Many thanks.

Ps: spent my weekly petrol money in one day on tube!!

Yes, it stops you riding off with the side stand down and then experiencing that anus clenching moment when you go round a bend the same side as your side stand and can't lean the bike over.

Much like this guy with his very expensive Spondon RG500:
