I'm sure what Scooby says is right.....
Also (and i'm not sure whether this helps or not) you can get away with riding a un-MOT'd vehicle to the test centre, so long as the MOT is booked with them, and therefore provable.

I think most do say it has to be insured by someone else, but do check that.
I presume the 'v5' aint going to be in your name yet if you don't have a plate . So it's a mate's bike that you're taking down to the MOT place as a favour . |

Hi
Done this a couple of times, twice with bikes and once with a car.
You need insurance, which can be done on the chassis number (but generally only for a limited time). You will need this insurance to register it anyway.
You can ride an unregistered bike to a pre arranged mot, even without registration plates, but it must be insured. The MOT will be recorded against the chassis number, and when you register the bike they will stamp the MOT certificate with the issued registration number.
All the best

I rode my unregistered Gixxer to it's MOT no problem, without Tax or a numberplate. The Police said it was fine as long as I was only taking it to it's MOT. If it failed I couldn't take it home though, and had to prove, if pulled, that the MOT was pre-arranged. ____________________ Back on a Blade. Just feels so right. |
