speaking to someone on face book today they haven't ridden due to needing parts for there machine (actually 3 people over last week or so)

i myself have been off the road since 22,12,12 due to lack of mot and insurance on 2 of my bikes, selling another of my bikes, and the last bike is completely stripped in the corner of a workshop Laughing

i hope to rectify this by next week end when the ns goes for its test

other than weather anyone else not riding Mad

Rode out yesterday, got home, put bike away, refuse to ride in this weather because of having the main road coated in 1/2 inch of sheet ice.

Does make watching cagers trying not to slide all over the place amusing.

But yeah, I value life a little more than to risk it.

I have none at the moment. Finished fixing the bike a few weeks ago.

Now I'm having to decide on a day to day basis. I managed to go out to the shops on Saturday but it snowed again today and all the old slush turned in to ice overnight. Wouldn't have risked it today.

Whether I risk it or not tomorrow hasn't been decided yet. Although I figure that when the weather is so bad that I'm unable to use my brakes... I really shouldn't be on the bike.

It was light snow all day today and it was at least 20cm high in some places... predicted heavy snow all day Tuesday here Sad

Hmm, freeze my tits off on the bike, possibly bin it or drive my camper and have a kettle and cooker with me at all times... I rode my bike once last year, in march. Also on the winter riding, been there, done that.

I rode before I went away, but now I'm back and there is more snow on the roads here than up the mountains in France, I won't be riding until it's gone!

I've been in the car for 2 weeks now, due to the snow and ice.

In previous years I have risked it and come off. (The front end goes light and down you go).

I'm 40 years old, I live on top of a hill, I live in the Pennines, I own a car, it has winter tyres.

Tomorrow we are forecast 15cm - 6" of snow (Halifax), i'm going to have to leave the car and walk to work.

I work in a place where if you make it work even if you have had to walk and are 2+ hours late you will get a well done. If you don't come in then you lose a days holiday and people will think you are soft.

Day to day decision for me. I think tomorrow I'll be bussing in, but we are expecting 48 hours of heavy snow starting tomorrow. I dunno, I'll see what the road outside looks like in the morning.

been out everyday without even needing to go out and theres 4-6 inches of snow here and its coming down heavy now.
Personally i love it as there are far less cars about and every road is like a green lane.... ofcourse it helps that i have been riding this Laughing

Suzuki GSR 600 is tucked away in the garage and will make an appearance from March till November.

Hyosung, is currently stuck on the street, unable to move because we live on a Hill and its sheet ice. When the snow clears i will be back on it.

It's too cold for fun.

My commute is too short for time-saving.

It's not the only transport I have.

I ride purely for pleasure. December and January's rain and snow have prevented me riding for pleasure, so I've been monging on Far Cry 3 instead.

Front brakes of the SV are seized on, so even if the snow and ice wasn't stopping me, I still wouldn't be using it, Plus I have a car.

My excuse is that a big, old, RWD cruiser that you're not overly concerned with denting is way more fun in the snow than a motorbike.

Can't be arsed, frankly.

I need some decent warm/waterproof trousers (which I haven't found the time to buy yet) my bike needs it's HT leads and plug caps replacing (which I haven't found the time to do yet, even though I have the parts) and, most recently, it's not really ideal for riding in snow.

Also, when I was a courier, I did enough riding in properly adverse conditions to last me a lifetime, so now I don't have to, I don't.

If I had a trail bike, I might be tempted to get out there for fun, but I've been looking at them and everyone seems to think that now winter is here, their trailie is worth twice what it really is, so I'll probably be passing, unless a proper bargain comes up.

I will fall over before I get the bike across the 20m of ice seperating my bike from the public road.

I also have the money to employ people called 'taxi drivers' for the few days a year this happens.

Or just not go out, given that I'm a student and don't actually do anything*

*that doesn't involve shuffling greek symbols about on paper all day

Rode pretty much daily until last Wednesday. I live in a hill in the suburbs, with several 90-degree turns before I get to a gritted main road. I'm on the tube for a while, looks like.

I rode last Tuesday 100 miles round trip sub zero, too much snow and ice now to bother.

My commute to work is a 10 minute walk, which helps.

Rear wheel has 2 new bearings in, and is currently buried in snow, along with a few other parts off the bike. Don't fancy taking my chances, roads where I live are lethal for cars, let alone bikes.

Managed to cycle to the local shops 5 miles away, although it was dark I made it without falling off. Was scary.

I remember when I was 18/19 not being phased by this stuff. 2 major and 1 minor accident changed my ways a little. Growing up, ahh. Laughing
