Rattling clutch

My bike makes an awful chattering / rattling sound until I pull the clutch lever in Is this the clutch plates or what? Happens 99% of the time and f*cking annoys me and can't be doing the bike much good either.

Any ideas?

If this is your Suzuki then it doesn't surprise me, 'they all do that sir'

If it's as bad as you say though, whip the clutch cover off, remove the springs and pressure plate and check the tightness of the centre nut - see if you can pull the inner clutch drum along the shaft.

If that's ok see if the outer drum can be waggled about, maybe the roller bearing it sits on is kaputnik.

It was suggested that it could be basket wear. The fella said it would cost more to fix it than the bike is worth! He said, all old kwaks suffer from it.

complety normal on old kawaskai,s when there cold mainly, l,m told my ZZR600 does when pulling off in 1st gear and at low revs in neutral
