Was i wrong to tell some ped rider on a Facef*ck group page that if he wants to deliver and collect items for people that he should get the required courier insurance?

Cheeky little pri*k obviously has no intention on paying tax for the work and can only carry a pair of slippers at maximum, if he crashes he puts our insurance up with no thought of the buyer/seller that he is delivering or picking up from.

Edit: forgot to mention the tard still has 'L's on his ped.

Well done.

Facebook and gumtree are full of these people earning pocket cash for delivering stuff on peds or in cars because couriers are too expensive.

Might be something to do with the £2000+ it costs to insure my vehicles for use as a courier every year, and the income tax my accountant tells me i have to pay etc etc.

Thought as much.

The cheeky scrote advertised himself as a delivery driver with cheap fuel costs and willing to pick up items etc for a couple of quid each journey. Can only carry small items due to being a gay ped rider and can only go up to 5 miles Rolling Eyes

He quickly deleted his advert when i challenged his abiltiy to do the work with the necessary insurance.
He's only a kid and i admire his ingenuity for trying to make some money in this awful economy that we all find ourselves in, but i had to draw the line at that and told him he had a deathwish, i expected better from some idiot who is currently at college tbh.

What's your specific problem?

He's unlikely to have comp insurance on his WingWang to begin with.

If he bins it into a 3rd party, they'll get their compo and he's at risk of being sued by the insurer.

In any case though, it's just a risk factor, it's not some special magical cover. The risk is really down to the mileage, not the type of use - any WingWing is going to be caned around urban areas, right?

Seems a bit "Well I never!" handbag clutching to me. Red tape helps nobody except tape-makers.

Meh, I used my bike for other purposes than social and commuting by delivering new bits of hardware to schools after they broke.

Technically you could say its classed as business, but hey...

I wouldn't be delivering other peoples parcels though, unless someone asked me to nicely..

Yeah because someone only willing to travel 5 miles is going to put any courier out of a job. Rolling Eyes get over yourself mate. Dickish thing to do, he could be out there claiming all sorts of benefits, but at least he's trying to do some sort of work.

Every time I think of a way to make money it turns out you need some sort of permit, insurance etc.

I was going to do home PC repair but then people who do it themselves started shouting at me saying I should be insured

Let alone registering as selfemployed, setting up LTD companies etc.
Considering how they seem to want everyone to be working they don't make it easy. Because they don't really care if you work or not, they just care if they get your taxes to pay for their second pool.

..Something like that

Doing odd bits on the side can be ignored somewhat but doing a bit on the side as a courier, ignoring the insurance requirements is not on, as has been mention my insurance costs me triple what it should for a SDP policy.

I can count on one hand how many times in the last year I've done jobs that were less than 5 miles, so they wont be short local jobs as they don't exist.

I'd say it took me about 2-3 years to establish myself as an independent courier (not sub contracting off other couriers), he should maybe look into pizza delivery (and I'm not taking the piss, it can be quite profitable, I've did it in my teens)

I'm glad i put him off as the twat does not realise that plod would be watching his every move.

His stupidity was there for all and sundry to see.

You mean you didn't give it?

Who cares if he get's caught doing something, he knowingly took the risk and is probably inboxing people about it now instead. Well done. Clapping

I sympathise for the likes of Marm, but some kid scuttling about the odd errand on his moped in his town isn't putting any serious couriers out of business.

He surely pays 'some' insurance to be on the road?, there are thousands that evade that on its own and without people thinking outside the box, cheating the corrupt system - are we to get any further in life without said system screwing us over evermore?

It's comparable to paying Jim down the road £5 a time for window cleaning knowing he won't declare it - but it's ok for MP's to do it on a mass scale?
Yep. Rolling Eyes

I don't see why it is such a big deal or why it bothers you so much, just a kid on a moped, it's unlikely he'll get much 'business' anyway

Is a good point! If drug dealers got wind of his very reasonably priced services I bet they'd have loads of local collection and delivery work going for him Wink

I was on CBT with a Pakistani who wanted to do fast food delivery and he failed it due to numerous dangerous moves such as driving on the wrong side of the road including around blind corners into a bus Laughing

The instructor went nuts. That would make a good thread on here.
