Well, I can't see where the problem is. Use your left hand instead of indicators and I don't think you'd let your left hand in the air pointing left while you want to go straight ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Just fuck off. That's what I thought I was gonna read when I clicked this post!
Good point really. i always got taught to "sweep" every so often - road, mirrors, clocks, idiot lights, road. think it was once every 7 seconds
I followed my mate once for about 10 miles over the horseshoe pass with his indicator flashing, he was on his street fighted gsxr11, no mirrors, and ..... Ahem....I couldn't get in front of him
My blade has an accumen alarm with an indicator reminder that starts beeping after 20 flashes. Idiot proof really ____________________ Fz50>Ts185>Rd125Lc>Cb250n Superdream "Deluxe" (!)>Kmx200>Tdr250>Yzf600 Thundercat>

My first ped (some shitty taiwanese thing) made clicking sounds similar to a car when indicating. Whats wrong with something like that as a reminder? ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |

Something like this would be better than self-cancelling, IMHO:

I agree with the OP on this.
I rarely forget to cancel my indicators, as I'm in the habit of manually cancelling to the point that even when I go round a sharp bend in the road, I automatically click my indicator button to cancel when I come out of the bend, even though they weren't on in the first place.
Every now and then though I'll be riding along for a little while before noticing that my indicator light's still on, as I've forgotten to cancel it after a turn I made little while back
I can't understand why self cancelling ones aren't the norm. |

My 87 XJ9 had them, my 83 Z11 has them and so does my 81 XJ650, along with a few other bikes I've had; I like them, I think it's a good idea, but I don't need it to be compulsory, in the same way as I don't want mandatory ABS, or any other shit the EU might care to throw at me, in the dubious name of 'safety'.
In any case, you just know if the EU get hold of it, it will come with a ridiculously loud audible warning device, so everyone will constantly be looking for that lorry that's backing up. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........
