How many years did you leave it in the garage? Looks like a tidy example in the pics Wink

must be a nice thing to have in the garage! Forget powder coating! Do bearings seals and fluids then ride it, it looks absolutely stunning the way it is.

Thanks for the interest and replies

A photo never lies Question Question ... Oh, but it doe's Exclamation

Rubbers are perished, seals gone, fork Stanchions pitted, chrome looks better than it is.

I know that not running it, is a crime, but now the four kids are grown up, it's time to put it back into the condition it deserves.

I will Definitely get it on the road and enjoy, when it's done..

are you powder coating the frame?
I have heard of nasty things about companies shot blasting the frames and leaving shot residue inside the oil part of the frame

and well the story doesn't end well

Powder coating is the plan.
So it's the way they take the old powder coating off. thats the problem, I need to ask before getting it done.
What are the other options to powder coating?

Your only other option is painting but i would go for powder coat. If the powder coating company knows about bikes they will block all of the areas that need protecting, when you get the frame back you should wash the oil tank i think most people use diesel.

Now the front forks, wheel, yokes, swing arm, rear brake torque arm, rear wheel, and stands have been removed....it's just the frame left Exclamation

I guess thats the easy parts done, now it's cleaning and sending off of bits and ordering of new bits, the job now starts Confused

As for the Engine, the plan is to get everything else oragnised, and then have a look as to what needs doing, I know the clutch plates are sticking and will probably just do a decoke, unless other things arise

Now you have to start spending money Laughing The clutch plates sticking shouldn't be an issue, my dad said that the ones on his bike used to stick after sitting for a couple of weeks. You can free them off once its back together. You start the bike on the centre stand, get someone to push the front wheel down so the back is off the ground, put it in 5th, pull in the clutch and put the back brake on. If you're going to leave the bike sitting for a while its a good idea to pull the clutch in and kick the starter over, as the kick start goes through the clutch.

Love it all laid out Thumbs Up

Better get your wallet out for all that chroming, ouch!

Plus I would go as far as getting some nylon bungs turned up to seal the oil tank in the frame. The blasting media is a pain to clear out
