I've got my PS3 hooked up to my Hitatchi monitor, it doesn't have a TV tuner or a hdmi slot, only DVI ( i think ) instead i use a hdmi in the ps3 which is a DVI connector at the other end, the issue i'm having is i'm told DVI doesn't carry audio ?

at the moment i'm getting sound using the scart cable from the PS3 to the surround sound but this means it's only in stereo and i can only adjust the volume using the PS3 volume options ( which vary from -4 to +4 Rolling Eyes ) or by doing it manually so i can't use the TV remote to adjust it.

so i'm wondering if there is an adapter or some way i can get sound without using the SCART method on the ps3, which i think isn't 5.1 but could be wrong. i'm not sure if i've explained it very well Laughing

this is under the TV/monitor

i have tried using the audio 'output' plugs but still having no luck,

logitech surround sound ( yep its a cheap one )

i don't know if i need some sort of adapter or basically with the setup i have i'm stuck with getting my audio this way?

anyway, any help appreciated

Not likely to get anything unless you use the optical audio out on the PS3 into a suitable amp.

The surround sound setup i got was meant for a PC setup so doesn't have a remote and the cables for the speakers aren't too long either Laughing my fault for not researching my setup properly Cool

HDMI -> DVI & use older PS2 leads on the AV port to output sound, can convert white & red to stereo sound (I convert it to 3.5mm for my PC speakers), PS3 supports multiple outputs so works fine. I used to have a similar set up (and still do for when mates are around) but I mostly use a gaming headset these days which uses optical out.

So this is the cable i use from the ps3, into the back of the surround sound to currently get my sound.

would this adapter then enable me to have the sound setup properly?

i am terrifically shit when it comes to this stuff as you might have gathered Laughing so how would it be wired/connected up?

thanks
