 |
|
I'm trying to sell the wife's ER5 at the moment, it was on eBay last week for £900 starting bid and £1200 buy it now but it didn't sell.
I stuck it on again, but this time starting bid £800 and Buy it now £1100 and it ended today but again hasn't sold.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190794304881?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1587.l2649
I know its the wrong time of year to be selling a bike but do people think I'm asking too much for it? If so what should it be going for?
Looking at other ER5s for sale on ebay, bike trader etc at the moment, most are around 1400/1500 but with 30/40k+ miles
I've only had one person come to view it (today) but he was seeing a bunch of other bikes today so I assume he picked something else.
A couple of people have emailed but one was in York and the other Devon, I can deliver the bike but (preferably) not quite that far.
I'd like £1000 for it, preferably a bit more but right now would be happy with 1k, its in good condition, nothing at all wrong with it, surely this isn't asking too much??
Should I wait until it gets a bit warmer when there may be more people looking for bikes?
That'll mean it takes up space in my garage which I don't really want it doing
Cheers!

I had considered the "best offer" thing.
Its getting annoying as its costing £15 a pop to get it on eBay.
Gumtree want near enough the same but most of the stuff on there is dodgy, and Bike Trader want £50ish!
I guess a "classified" eBay listing for 28 days with a ONO would probably be the way to go.
Can anyone advise on the price? Does it seem fair? ____________________ Current - Hornet 600, Transalp 650, X140 Pit, GPZ400R

I think you should stick at it, don't reduce the price anymore, put it on freeads / gumtree / bike-trader as well if you put it on bike-trader anything over a thousand pounds is charged so 995.00 it is, also on ebay take advantage of there free listings, they generally email you when they do this
It's a perfect commuter/ first bike / winter hack, with low mileage and in excellent condition, fingers crossed it sells soon |

Should get 1k for that.
I've sold all my bikes as Classified ads on ebay. One of the 'dodgey ones' I had no idea what it was worth I stuck up for a price with an offer function.
Basically used the offer function to see what people were willing to pay rather than accept.
Just make sure people send you a £50 deposit before you end the listing, that way if they bail, the £15 to list it is covered. ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010. Restriction ended 13/09/2012.

I have to agree that auction is a mug's route unless you're desperate to shift it at any price.
Good luck with your £901 "bidder". ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know I'm not going mad.
Instigator, why lose the exhaust? Why would you not go over £850?
Unfortunately I never picked up the original system from the previous owner, so I can't switch ____________________ Current - Hornet 600, Transalp 650, X140 Pit, GPZ400R

.
I am always suspicious of someones honesty when a bike is advertised as belonging to 'the wife'.!!!
I am not saying that yours did not.!
But it is amazing how many bikes are advertised as 'belonging to the wife' - It's a bit like a spivey 2nd hand car salesman in the 70's telling a prospective punter that the car had belonged to a little old lady that only used it to go to church in on a Sunday.! Some by default will have done. But not that many.
Perhaps alter the description to :- "As will be confirmed by the V5 this bike is the property of my wife who has ridden it for the last ** months."
Your price I would say is in the ball park. I have just sold one with 22K on a 2001 in very good condition for £800

Actually, the winning bidder bid on two bikes ending at the same time but won both, he went with the other bike apparently as it was closer to him.

True, its not how eBay works but I like to be fair. He paid the 12 quid for the listing and we did the cancel transaction thing.
I also wasn't massively bothered as it was less than I was hoping for anyway ____________________ Current - Hornet 600, Transalp 650, X140 Pit, GPZ400R

Problem is - its a 500 twin.
They're not at all desireable. Nobody wants to pay more than about £800 for one, and even then it's gotta be minty.
It's like trying to sell a YBR, ended up getting £1100 for a mint 2011 model w/16k on it. And for that money i did have to put a brand new rear tyre on for the buyer.
I'd chuck it up for 1k, or best offer, then as soon as they start offering lower "okay, but i keep the rack & zorst." Worst case scenario - ebay the remus & get an OEM from breakers/eghey. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
