On our road, there is an unwritten thing that if you want to get rid of something which you believe may be of use to anyone else, you put it outside, right at the edge of your front garden/driveway. Anyone going by is free to help themselves. We've gotten rid of a few sheds, a bed and a sofa that way.

Its like our own little free-cycle.

Now I'm quite new to the road, relatively speaking, and I don't know all the neighbours yet (and its a massive road).

Was walking home from work one day when I say a nice wooden chair with a beautifully upholstered cushion. As I had a closer look I noticed it was a rocking chair! Now my gf has always wanted a rocking chair, so awesome! picked it up, gifted it to her, and she fucking loves me for it.

2 days later, i'm walking past when I see a pair of bike boots! in almost perfect condition. Pair of Alpinestars SMX-5s, in black. Size 10. My size exactly! Seriously, these boots can't have been worn more that 2 or three times, they were pristine.

Happy a pig in shit, take those home. The next day, I'm walking down and see a leather bike jacket. More use on this one, some scuffs, but still very very useable. So I decided to stop pussyfooting around, and I went and knocked, but no answer...

I'm gonna keep checking to see what my trampy bikefather gives me next.

Moral of the story, free shit is awesome.

I've just moved house and left my boots and leathers out to dry as it had warmed up after I'd been caught in a sudden downpour. Then some scrote nicked them! I had literally only left them unattended for 5 minutes! Evil or Very Mad

We do the same here but our dumping unused ship place is the village phonebox (has no phone in it).
It's mainly books and video tapes but sometimes there is good stuff in there.

We have the same where we live, except you don't even have to leave the stuff on the street. You just go out one day and they come in and take what they want, saves loads of hassle!

we have a similer thing round here

put stuff out the front and withing ten minutes it seems to vanish
three broken lawnmowers a vacum cleaner a fridge and a cooker that we had paid to have collected when the new one arrived

we never see the person that picks it up to thank him we also have an old metel chimnyer in the back garden we want rid of so he could have that if he wanted it

the one day he had been in the time i had put the item out and walked upstairs

So... you robbed someone...

Congratulations?

Around my way, my neighbours just do their best to keep quiet when they see me cutting up old tyres, desk chairs, furniture and vacuum cleaners and force feeding them to my wheelie bin.

Please please please take a white bin bag out with lots of clumps of hair/fake blood everywhere, make a massive noise, cut some tyres and ram it all in your bin.

Make sure they are all watching. Laughing

Don't do that, it's like feeding foxes. Next thing they'll be dragging your babies away.

Less organised, but I also have been known to take other peoples rubbish too. Can be great, can just end up with clutter.

I try to resist these days, but the other day I couldnt resist a george foreman grill that had been put out with the rubbish in an asda bag for life bag.

I like the bag and the grill works great for burgers and I'm going to try paninis as at my local fast food place I have switched from pizzas to paninis as a less fatty alternative but with similar ingredients.

We live in a big student area and when they move out, they are always leaving things for anyone to have who wants it. We have had a telly, a vacuum cleaner and a barbeque. No bike stuff so far.
