Hopefully someone might be able to come up with something I havent already checked, basically the bike idles fine but when you rev past 5-6k it loses all power and wont go past that mark.

So far ive checked:
stripped and cleaned carbs
checked compression
checked coils and ht leads
checked fuel vacuum pipe and bypassed it so its a direct feed
changed carb rubber seals
changed carbs (worked perfect the first test yesterday, started doing it again today)

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing it?

Have you checked float heights?

Have you checked the joins between engine and carbs for leaks?

What condition is the fuel in? 5 to 6K is about where she will come onto main jet if there is a touch of water in the fuel it will kill it. Take the drain plugs out and drain into your hand, you will see any water.

It is not getting fuel when it needs it most so.....Fuel pump (if you have one), fuel filter, tank venting properly ( take the filler cap off and run it).

Would the air filter really cause this kind of problem?

To much air will blow a flame out. No air will kill a fire.

Another option is you did not put the carbs back together proper or clean them proper or one of your main jets was not tight and is now sitting in the float bowl

Not that either, had the carbs off many times and put it back together exactly how it was before

put the original carb and air filter back on, changed the ht leads to ones i had on a diff bike and it will reach 7-9k revs before bogging this time, next on the list is new coils, seems my test ones may not have been up to scratch either.
