I'll vouch for split pipes... the rubbers decay and split over time.. Happened to me yesterday in fact while I was taking the tank off ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000

Wow, never heard of this, and if you have a carbed bike, then I doubt there is much you can do to protect the hose apart from park it somewhere safer or buy fuel injected. ____________________ Current bike - GSX-R1000 k8 |

My ER-5 is Carbed + has a vacuum pipe from the petcock but the lines are still exposed and pulling either the main petrol feed or the reserve petrol feed will result in petrol pouring out still so it doesn't really help ____________________ K8 GSXR 1000

To avoid it, ride 2 strokes, no one sane would steal petrol mixed up with oil
But there's no way how to prevent it to happen + vacuum tap or not, there's always drain or prime position on it ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

My old bike that I can get to the tap on has prime, on and reserve. The other old bike has no fuel tap as it has a fuel pump, so bike effectively vacuum fed, it either works or doesn't and when fuel gauge says you're run out you really, really have. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

So, how do you drain the tank? ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

about all you could do is use some if this
https://www.motorsport-tools.com/fuel-hose-stainless-steel-over-braid-low-pressure-8mm-id-p-250613.html and proper jubilee clips then at least they won't be able to cut it thru easily or pull it off.
the downside is if desperate they may do more damage trying to get into the filler cap etc. ____________________ Hyosung cruise 125(passed test on, sold) Kawasaki el 252 (better than expected but sold on) Kawasaki GPZ500S first "big"bike.(sold) ZZR600 E5..Z750 2007,ER5, currently on a 2008 Enfield bullet electra x and loving it..
