Hi, Ive an old cg 125 k1, with k1 type carb and c type engine (and so carb withou pump)

Ive re-fit a carb-heat shield as i bought it without one, and made sure the float height is correct (according to carb model and haynes manual), and have removed, examined and put back in position the jets to ensure they are clear, then re-set the carb in position with a now correctly fitting pipe between the carb and air box.

Now however the carb is not working correctly (surprise)

It worked to full throttle again, for about 700-1000 yards, but now wont start.

When it does start due to turning the pilot and throttle speed screws, it only starts with very high revs as if the throttle cable is being pulled full throttle, then misfired after less than 10 seconds and wont re-start.

Ive tried setting the pilot screw from as tight as it will comfortably go, then screwing the idleing/throttle screw in half a turn each 2 kick starts, followed by turning the pilot screw out half a turn and repeating the procedure, and so have thoroughly tested the carb to try and get the right settings.

(the throttle cable is as loose as it can be)

Any ideas of my new problem?

have you tried the fuel mixture screw also cleaning air filter or even trying it without the filter to get it started as somtimes it might b restricting if its an old one, make sure the choke is off too , if that dont work try checking the condition of the plug and spark if its weak the points may need adjusting or plug replacing( DPR8EA-9 ngk) as it wont b a cdi being a c model engine if the spark is ok try valve timing they should be checked from a cold engine make sure generator cover is timed up with the (T) not the (F) mark or it might b a line groved in the casings, when its timed up you should be able to move both rocker arms a tiny bit the gap should b 0.8 or 0.008 on the feeler gauges after all that there shouldnt b a reason for it not to start.

i own a cg125 myself and ive gone through every issue you could think of just bad luck i geuss , hope the info works for you

From the bit you said about very high revs I would say take out the throttle needle mechanism from the top of the carb. Make sure it is seated correctly as there should be a groove in one side that allows it to go down all the way. If that's not lined up the needle will stay up high and keep the throttle on high. Had the same thing with my CG.
