No, OP, is correct. At 19 you can get the new 35kW A2 category license, with no pre-requisites (other than CBT and theory).
| ##Paddy## wrote: | Thundercat, claimed 100hp, not likely, so probably has about 90-95, which is suitable for restriction. |
I'd bet your license that the law will be interpreted as not restricting down from a bike that claimed more than 70kW. How would Plod measure what the bike was making before it was restricted, without removing the restriction?
| ##Paddy## wrote: | Other than that, its the older CBR600F. |
Impossibru, too powerful.
There's really very little that you could describe as a "sportsbike" that can tick all the boxes. Heck, even a Hornet or a Fazer are a bit overpowered. This may have been the intention.
If you want to stay strictly legal then maybe think about a fully faired SV650. I know, not sportsbike, but you're only going to be making 35kW anyway. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

No way was my cbr600f putting out over 90bhp, don't think they even claimed it did as new. Probably sporty enough looking for the OP too:

Still truth be told if you lopped half of the power from the engine it would be a bore to ride and probably slower than anything that makes that power as standard. The most fun bike I owned within that power bracket was my TDR250 but then I doubt it ticks the "sporty looking" box! The picture was the day I got it, in the end it had TZR wheels and a blue spot up front, which certainly made it handle nicely enough. Excuse 18 year old me!

Still you didn't ask for fun you asked for speed and out of my sub 50bhp bikes the GPZ500s was probably the fastest point to point. No pictures of mine, but here is a google image:

Unfortunately, decent condition ones are seriously rare now, and the few remaining are going for crazy money.
