1)
When you put the ignition switch to the 'off' position a connection is made which sends the electricity that normally goes to the ignition coil to earth. Either the switch is faulty of the earth connection is erratic.
First spray loads of WD40 into the switch and work the key back and forth a few times. Failing that you will need to test the switch with a multimeter or a battery and bulb, if it checks out ok you will need to follow the wiring to the earth connection and check this is making contact properly.
2) Is something hitting it, such as a foot or part of the bodywork when the suspension moved up and down? Is it next to something really hot (eg exhaust) and melting? Does the bike 'spit back' through the carb on the overrun (which would be the equivalent of hitting the filter with a flame thrower)?
3) I know nothing about these. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

The switch is usually completley seperate to the immobaliser. It is a simple connection to earth when in the off position.
Your immobaliser will be wired through with various parts of the ignition system but is essentially a secondary switch. You switch on the first one in the normal way using your key. This supplies power to the immobaliser in the normal way (as in a switch going 'on').
After that the complicated stuff happens. I am assuming your immobaliser chip is in the key. When the immobaliser powers up, it looks for the chip which is in your key using an antenna built in to (or often stuck on top of) the ignition switch. If the chip is correct, the immobaliser supplies all the power for the rest of the bike.
So in short, a bike with an immobaliser has a simpler ignition switch than most. There is the 'off' switch which connects the coil to earth when in the off position and the 'on' switch which supplies power to the immobaliser when in the 'on' position. There is also the immobaliser antenna which is not specific to your bike or chip, it is just a glorified loop of wire.
Anyway, lesson ends here, I am confusing/boring you unecessarily. Most ignition switches are in two pieces, the switch itself is seperate to the ignition barrel (the lock part that you put the key in) so changing it is usually just a case of unscrewing the switch part from the bottom of the barrel and undoing a snap connector then replacing it with a new one.
The WD40 will most likley do the trick though. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I duno, cos I have a filter on and a noisy race pipe, I wont be able to hear it. (unless its loud like a backfire)
I was out on my scoot earlier and as I was riding along, I switched the key off, and it cut out straight away. But then I parked up, and turned off the key, and it ticked over for about... well, It didnt even stop, I had to put my choke on to stall it.
Its definatly getting worse...
Could it be my mixture, and it being too rich so when I cut the key out, there is still some unburnt fuel? |

This is quite unlikely, but try it anyway.
It is possible that the engine has got coked up. This stuff glows red hot inside the cylinder head when the engines running. If there is enough of it, the engine will simply keep going like a glow engine (same as on R/C cars, the ignition is supplyed by a glowing hot plug not a spark). If this is happening it will cause the engine to die the instant you try to put any throttle on or the choke as you said. As there is more cold fuel and air getting in there is not enough heat to keep the ignition going.
As I said this is unlikely, but I have seen it happen. Simple check - as you switch the ignition off at the key pull the spark lead off, if it keeps running its doing what I described, if it stops imediately it is something else. ____________________ I love the girls that do, I hate the girls that dont, I hate the girls who say they will and then they say they wont, but the girl I like most of all and I think youll say Im right, is the girl who says she never has but looks as though she might. - Max Bygraves |

yep, my HT lead is rubber.
The electric can still jump though .
Ive a feeling that Mchaggis is right. I havnt tried it yet. But it may be just me being wishful.
If it is the immobiliser, Is it hard to completely take it out and bypass the immobiliser and have it as a normal scooter?
