I'm guessing a CG.. removing the button isn't necessary but is currently redundant
Bodgetastic is the way forward. |

Just seen your problem I'm guessing it would be the lights and spark or ignition wiring the wrong way round from someone replacing it if I remember correctly it will be a red and a black with White tracer And a solid black on the ignition try swapping the red and black with White tracer over wire and connectors will be behind the headlight
Hope this helps brad ____________________ Theory 11-10-12 lets hope i get mod 1 and 2 done by the 18th of jan 2013 |

I was just reading again and as mysterious rider says the sator plate is probably the offending item would imagine you would have to but a gasket set for the item or I may have on here but u would have to wait till the 31st for me to post ...I would also recommend you use an impact screw driver you can get the mag off with hammer and a few touches in the right place or buy a pulled witch is also a good purchase if you ever have to replace the points but be carfull not to lose the woodruff key .... Also as your properly wondering what a sator plate is it behind the magneto that the charging system sits too. But be aware you will have to drain your oil as you will / may get electrics covered in oil as I'm aware this is a dry charging system
Hope this helps brad ____________________ Theory 11-10-12 lets hope i get mod 1 and 2 done by the 18th of jan 2013 |

If it really is behind the statorplate, do yourself a favour and buy a few things, an impact driver, and a flywheel puller. Don't try and bodge them, you will round the screws if you use a normal screwdriver, and you will bend the flywheel if you use two claw hammers (yeah I tried once )
Don't bother draining the oil. Just lay the bike on it's side.
Just check and make sure it's that leaking. I haven't seen behind the cases on this bike before so it could be a number of things, but I bet I'm right.
Cheers. ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |

In the case of pulling flywheel off a puller is a must
I thought I was clever prying on off on my cg and snapped a price off the casing no a wise move ____________________ Theory 11-10-12 lets hope i get mod 1 and 2 done by the 18th of jan 2013 |

ahh cheers for the replies guys...really appreciate it
i intended to attack my leak last night but the power steering pump failed on the car last night so i was told (by the mrs) i had to work on that
i do have a flywheel puller so i will get that off an have a poke around. is it easy enough to do the seal if its the stator?
all round |

Depends how the stator is held on. It could just be socket bolts, in which case, happy days! If not it'll be screws. Just use the flywheel puller on the flywheel, get that off, then a few screws to the backing plate (bike should be on its side, or oil drained out of it), once they are off the plate should slide off freely. Be careful not to damage any of the wiring.
The seal leaking is probably the center one where the flywheel shaft goes through.

thats the microfiche, I can't find anything as old as yours but you get the general idea, there's two oil seals, not that expensive to be fair. Parts 6 and 7.
On the plus side, just noticed it runs bolts! No need for an impact driver. Sorted!
Hope this helps mate. ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |
