It all depends on your riding style and intended use mate. A set of sports like Dunlop Sportsmarts will give you about 3k to a rear and be grippy in the dry but quite crap in the cold/wet. A sports tourer like the Dunlop Roadsmarts will give you about 5-8K from a rear and be good in both the wet and the dry. The dry grip from a good sports tourer is more than enough for the road imo, plus you get good wet/cold weather performance and more miles from it.

I'd stick to the manufacturer spec sizes, probably the reason the front end feels shite.

120 front & 160 rear are fine on the Mk1 Bandits.

When getting new tyres now, I won't be messing about - I'll be going straight for the tyre that I know is best - Michelin Pilot Road 3. Best tyres I've ever owned.

Don't think you can get these to fit the manufacturers size recommendations, I ended up going for the Pilot Road 2s on mine since I couldn't get the 3s

I've always liked Bridgestone tyres, but everyone I know who races bikes puts Pirelli's on their road and race bikes, so I've put some on mine, but have yet to scrub them in.

Dunlops are ok, but everytime I've had them I've suffered with punctures.

I got 4k from a racetec... marginal amount more on supercorsas.

If you want grip.. they are grippy.

If you want all round wet and dry grip though, Pilot Road 2s.

or, pretty much what im going for in 120/180 below..

Cheaper to go for the 120/160 at the moment here - https://2wheeljunkie.co.uk/motorcycle-tyres/pirelli-motorcycle-tyres/pirelli-diablo-sport-motorcycle-120/60-17-160/60-17-front-/-rear-tyre-pair/cat_292.html

Nice tyres really. Thumbs Up

They're old tyres though. Check the date on the sidewall, once a tyre gets to 5 years old from production, the rubber starts to harden and 'go off'.

Not had an issue before, unlikely to have issues.

Michelin PR2s or PR3s - both excellent tyres in wet or dry conditions and fairly hard wearing too. Thumbs Up

They stopped making them years ago, so I was merely pointing out they're old stock, and won't grip as well as new tyres. Even if you bought the same ones last year, this years will of been sat around for another year, the rubber getting harder...

As I said, it really doesn't matter.

I've ridden bikes with stock tyres on YEARS after they bought the bike. No ill effects, might be old stock but plenty of people including local place still stocking.

Same here, my ZX7R had BT056's on when I bought it, which were fine, but when I fitted new tyres, they had loads more grip. You could feel the old ones were hardening, almost like plastic. I guess its all relative to how folk ride.

Good tyres yes. But i cant believe they are still that expensive. I remember having those on my zx6r 5 years ago and even then they were being replaced. Confused

Standard Pilot Power's are around the same sorta money now aswell.
