so yesterday i was on nike and we were traveling home from my friends house! anyways while riding.. a car had followed me for the majority of the ride.. (a guy in a big 4x4 merc)..

anyways we approached a roundabout and i thought he would of took a different lane to overtake... he didnt.. i came out the roundabout and realized i had went into the wrong lane. fucksake. (sorry to those who are offended by bad language)

anyways i checked my mirror.. indicated.. done shoulder check and noticed i had space to go back into the lane. he then went out of the lane and went infront of me ... over took me and went back infront!!

like okay i am aware i looked cocky but it was a genuine mistake... and if he was following the speed limit we wouldn't have had this little feud. so as i see traffic lights in the distance i am thinking to myself .. "please go on red... please go on red!!!!!!" so love and behold... ka-ching they went red... for once i have wanted the traffic light to go red! anyways there were no other cars about ... so in the pissed of mood he put me in.. i thought it would only be fair to return the favour. so baring in mind i didnt need too.. i thought i would filter right infront of him. so i did ... yes it was childish but im not gonna lie.. in that moment i felt...

Pissing off someone in a 4x4, sounds clever.

It is a stupid thing to do but I'm sure we've all done it.

I used to get overtaken when showing the L's, even when going normal traffic speed. They purely see the L plates and assume "learner, slow, must get in front". It *did* used to feel good filtering past them 60 seconds later at the next roundabout, queue, lights, etc. If I was driving a car, chose to overtake a motorcycle only to get casually re-passed seconds later I'd feel a right prick - maybe they do, maybe they don't.

And yeah L plates dont help.. i was doing the limit and yet he was far too close he seemed to off just suddenly turned up aswell

I don't get people that say this.

So you don't care about being in an accident, potentially injuring yourself for life/dying, providing it was the other person's fault? Personally, I strive to avoid everything, even if it means "giving in" to some cock on the road. I like my life* Thumbs Up

For a cage to be following you that closely you clearly weren't going fast enough to start with.

On her grave stone: 'RIP Dottyduck, the driver was still in the wrong' Laughing

As said OP, if you were doing the speed limit, the cager wouldn't be driving so close. If you're doing 50 in a 60, let him pass...

Sounds like you're on a chicken chaser, this is no problem on a big bike.

Ps filtering to the front on zig zags is naughty Wink

I rarely find doing the speed limit prevents tail-gaters from tailgating to be honest.... If someones gonna be enough of a wanker too sit up your arse and try too intimidate you out the way, speed limits not going to make much of a difference to them is it?

Well yes, most of the time they are understandably irritated if they are going to work or whatever and someone is doing 45-50 on a NSL road. More so if they remain in the centre of the road and not let the driver pass even when its safe to

I shall remain in disagreement there. I usually sit at the limit (or 1 or 2 over at most), and I still get tailgated some days.

One of the guys I work with (mentioned before here, I never accept lifts off him anymore) tailgates everyone and absolutely rages constantly at everyone else on the road. Doing the limit will not prevent him from tailgating.

Dotty, how old are you, if you don't mind me asking?

You do really need to grow up, playing games with 2 tonne machines is only going to end in one way.

You clearly don't have much road experience, you messed up on a roundabout and then had the cheek to try and annoy him?

Only a matter of time before you become another statistic if you keep this mind set!

Equal rights act: You're a fucking idiot. Laughing

I agree with Sable, Tailgaters will push you regardless of speed limits, either being in a rush or seeing the vehicle in front as "competition".

The country roads I ride I'll usual stick at 50/55 in a 60 for long periods, yes a car could likely go much faster with more confident grip levels but I'm not pulling over for every car who catches up with me!
I'm not a tractor or a moped, I'm within 10mph of the speed limit (not target).
Unless they become aggressive or ridiculously close, I hold my position.
Hell if I was a van, 50mph would be my legal top speed anyway.

Back on topic Laughing

Motorcycle rider chooses wrong lane, safely corrects himself, witnesses a dangerous overtake (who hasn't) and continues to filter through traffic.
Big deal.

You say the 4X4 was following you, you realise that roads go to other places than your house right? Wink
Just a coincidence, the driver likely didn't even register you hence overtaking you.

Easy to say "pull over" or "just ignore", much harder to do in practice. Tailgating does bring on the red mist for me.

I did come to a stop last night in the cage, mind, to let Corsaboi have a think about his driving choices in a blizzard. He actually had to reverse in order to perform his heroic overtake. Rolling Eyes

again comment invalid. i was in a 30 so guess what speed i was doing? yes 30. give yourself a coconut.

Also when on a NSL road i do pull over and infact if i see the ro
ad is safe and clear i indicate to the side of the road and also decrease my speed as well as pulling in to allow cars past.

YAWN. Rolling Eyes instead of talking nonsense why have you not asked me what speed limit was?! instead of always finding a way of picking faults?!

Dotty, your first post talks about 'we' and you are on L plates, that's either very naughty or just how the young people of today talk these days.

If its the latter; talk propa like init guv and get more betterist at reading the road.

Davenaylor I think he means 'we' as in 'the 4x4 driver and I'. Not 'we' 'a pillion and I'.
