Going to go view a 94 ZXR 750 L on Thursday. It's done 42k miles and the owner wants £1200 for it with fresh MOT. Looks tidy, but won't know more until I go see it.

Anything in particular I should be looking for? Any known faults? If the bike is mint, is that a fair price?

Would appreciate advice on ZXR 750s in general, might be viewing another one as well. An earlier H1 model. 30K miles, £1000 with 12 months MOT. Again, what should I be paying for these?

A look at completed listing on eBay says they can go for anything from £600 to £900. But these are cosmetically tired. I see plenty advertised for £1500 but surely nobody is paying that.

Don't really know what you are supposed to check on them personally.... only bit of advice I can give is make sure you ain't buying either from a guy in Liverpool called Paul

If there is anything to learn from this forum, never buy a ZXR750 or GS500.

Was very tempted by one in Liscard, very close to Liverpool Laughing

GS 500...BLEH.

I reeeealy want the ZXR though! It's such a pretty bike. And will definitely be a classic one day.

My other choice is a F2 CBR 600 for the same price. Every single MOT since new and proper tidy apparently. Gonna go have a look on Wednesday.

What do you mean by worse "quality"?

I have no real preference between them. The Thundercat is maybe a little better looking. Really, if prices were equal, it would come down to which is cheaper on insurance and economy and easier to work on.

Well, the older CBRs had nice frames.

Easy to work on, had no issues on the Cat. Aside from plugs, ball...ache...

Well... If I came across these 2 bikes at £1200, I'd buy the CBR.

It's not the most desirable option, but if it's mega tidy, then might be an option. Would imagine they're more reliable than the ZXR?

And the the CBR is £50 cheaper a year on insurance. So unless the Thundercat has anything going for it apart from just looks over the CBR...difficult to swing it to the Yamaha.

In fact, the ZXR is cheaper to insure than the Thundercat for me Confused

Get classic insurance

Be awesome.

Mine was £900.
£150 a year fully comp.

How old are you grandad Razz £175 for TPFT for me. That's with 2 years NCB, and I'm 23. Garaged and registered my parents' house in a nice neighbourhood. I'm assuming the insurance automatically becomes classic insurance due to age and I don't have to go hunting around specifically for classic insurance?

For the CBR, how do I check if the reg/rec is on it's way out?

On a healthy bike the lights should get a little brighter when you rev the bike right?
