pit bike carb on my mz?!

Hi

looking to clean up my carb so looking for a kit and see that carbs for pit bikes are only £20 new. assuming i find one with the right size manifold fitting and right jet size, could it be a direct replacement?!

well it was more of a generalised question, im not 100% sure how the oil mixes in the petrol i.e. would i need a carb specific for 2 stroke or could i use 4 stroke carb

havent got a link to anything specific but this is what gave me the idea. still need to see what size inlet etc the mz carb is

The stock carby for the ETZ125 has a 22mm choke size, that one is a little small.

Try something like this:

Carburettor is a carburettor-you can use this unit on a 2 or 4 stroke. It takes standard Mikuni jets, so can be jetted to suit.

The ETZ125 may have an oil pump, look for the oil tank under the left hand side panel and the oil pump under one of the engine covers on the left side. If it's autolube, check it is set properly and jet away. If the pump is absent, you will only need to make sure the oil is mixed with the fuel in the tank. You will need to jet the carb with the mixed oil/fuel. Should you fit the pump at a later date, a carb set up for premix will be a little rich.

Great stuff cheers. It has an oil pump I wasn't sure if the pipe Attatched to the carb or somewhere else. I've just finished work so will go take a look this after a bit of sleep, will take the carb off and clean it up a bit and see if that's any better first I suppose

For some reason I would never of thought to interchange 4/2 stroke carbs.

Well it's dirty and smelly. Only has choke and throttle cable. Inside it has a needle, it reminded me of the old mini su carb days. I was expecting the fuel bowl to be full of gunk but it was all surprisingly clean inside.

Now, if I bought a carb like the one linked above, would it be considered as an upgrade as in modern technology vs 20+ year old carb?
