Some potato has messed with the pilot screws in the past, but never put the rubber bungs back in the ends to protect them from the elements.
One screw turns freely, but the other has a mangled head and is seized. I have already sprayed Plus Gas on it and left overnight but there just isnt enough grip there to undo it. I was going to richen the mix to see if it cures my exhaust backfire on decel. Have lightly tapped a screwdriver with a hammer to try and create a new slot but to no avail, not going to try that again as i run the risk of fucking up the threads in the carb body as well.
How would i go about removing it now? its about an inch deep into the carb body, shown almost in the centre of this pic:

I've read on another forum that drilling a shallow pilot hole in the centre of the screw then hammering in a Torx bit works - I'll try to find the thread.

The only thing I would differently is this....Turn a steel guide that fits into the hole that should have had the rubber bung in it with a hole in the centre the same size as the drill you are going to use. This will take any hit or miss out of drilling the screw accurately. Do not make it so that it is a tight fit as you will need to remove it!

If I was to tackle that I would strip the carbs down on the bench, heat the area with a hot air gun, get some release agent in there, heat it again and then have a go.

One thing - NEVER us copper grease on idle mixture screws, or any other brass part in a carb housing. It's a good way of making them seize in solid due to dissimilar-metal corrosion.

Yea some kind of hollow metal tube going down the hole to protect the inside walls would help, would also mean its drilled centrally

I have since changed exhaust gaskets and it still pops on decel, so i do need to free the fucker.
Used plus gas every day for a week and it still wont turn, the head is totally mangled now.
I read in another thread of someone using a 'pin vice' to create a hole in the screw, then gluing in an allen key, then removing that way.
Can any of these ideas be done with the carb on the bike? I really dont want to take them off

For what reason? You cant access the jet any better by disassembling the carb anyway
