Need a new battery for GSXR1000.

Can get a yuasa for £35, but on Wemoto theres some Motobatt which they have up for £60 (can get elsewhere for £50).

https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/gsxr_1000_k4/04/picture/battery_motobatt_sealed_high_torque/

Whats the difference/advantage if any of the Motobatt over the Yuasa?

I take it the Yuasa is not sealed and you would have to dump the acid in yourself and charge it?

Motobatt should take more cycles of being allowed to go near flat then recharged without damage.
Should also have more cranking power.

Correct.

What do you mean by cranking power exactly?

I've bought three motobatts for three different bikes - they seem to work well and various owners forums provide good reviews.

Check the specs, but the Motobatts tend to have a higher amp hour rating than a normal battery. Means it will crank the bike over longer without going flat. Good for cold winter mornings.

I know TarmacSurfer on here runs a Motobatt on his bike and has been happy with it, particularly that it has double terminals on it that make attaching powered peripherals to it easier?

I run a Westco Gel battery on my GPz, similar price and design to the motobatt ones apart from the extra terminals.. had it on the bike for three years almost and have been very impressed with it - never had to charge it or leave it on a battery tender, never failed to crank the bike over either.

Most batteries have two values, A/H (Amp/Hours) and CCA (Cold-cranking amps)

A/H is an indicator of how much continuous draw from things it'll handle, i.e. lights on, alarm battery draw, espresso machine (G-wings only)

CCA is the single hit power of the battery - i.e. the amount of power it can throw into your starter motor when you hit the starter button, lower CCA means more strain on the battery to start your bike.

My two year old motobatt started my 1600cc v twin on the first press of the button after being stood for three months. No optimate required with a motobatt.

I can get a cheap shitty battery for £20 Vs £45 for a motobatt?

Is it worth it?

Depends on what type of rider you are. If you do any winter riding at all, then spend the money, it's deffo worth it. If you're a summer weekend warrior, then prolly not.

If you're a summer rider that can't be bothered to put their bike on trickle charge when not in use, get the motobatt. They take all eternity to go flat compared with lead acid ones.

You're probably right, so whatever rider you are splash the cash. Although, I should probably have written;

Sometimes it's not a question of "being bothered". A trickle charger requires a nearby electrical socket and if you don't have one of those then a Motobatt is the next best thing.

True. Although my laid up bikes have their batteries kept in the spare room to avoid winter damage and occasionally topped up with my charger. Removing one really isn't that hard.

Unless it's an RXS100. I rode mine home 60 miles with no battery when I bought it...but admittedly only the ignition worked Laughing
