Continuing to do all my own servicing atm, saw this video a while back and used it too change my brake pads. He says in the video most disk brakes are similar, though on bigger bikes the pistons are harder to push back in? His method worked fine on my little Sinnis, only difference was I only had 1 piston to push back in.

Yeah I know most of you know how to do it, but for the uninitiated, this guys video shows how easy it is. So just thought I would share for those that haven't done it before. |

yeah, right in 10 mins. and lots of cuts and editing
+ you do not need the torque wrench and it takes quite a lot of time to fit the calliper back on the disc
Sometimes helps if you drain the system a bit, a previous owner could have just added some fluid into the system when the pads were old/used up. My rear brake was just like that, the previous owner had to change rear pads, instead of that he filled up the system, so when I got new pads it was impossible to push the pistons back, so I had to drain it a bit
EDIT: If it was meant to be a manual for beginners, I'd mention do not touch your brake lever while the caliper is off the disc. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Time scales may vary, but the video still helped me change my pads for the first time. |

Clean the pistons before pushing them back in.
Clean the pins the pads slide on, then use a small amount of copper grease.
Loosening off the pad pins is far easier to do before removing the caliper. ____________________ Suzuki GT250 x7------- Fazer 600------CB250RS------Aprilia Rally 70----- Bandit 600
