Hey.
Once I get a Job ( Shocked ) one of the first thing's I want to buy is another motorcycle.
I'm fantasying (I'm one of these dreamer types (I can't live 60 years and not get a job right?)) about a RS4 as I want to have the ability to drive down A roads with "Ease" , And I have read, either the YZF or the RS4 are the better options (RS4 being slightly cheaper with a lower seat height).

I however, am not sure whether I like the "clam" position of these "sport bikes".
I am also interested in the Honda MSX125 - it's cheaper, looks great, and is suppose to be great to ride, but I'm not sure it has the top speed I need.

That's why I kinda want a test ride really. But am unsure if I can with a CBT? and also since I'm 18 (not 21)...

And ... I know some 18 year old can be .... or are not the most mature.... But I'm a boring ol' fart me ... and I like to think I'm one of the safer rider's ;D

I really doubt it. Alot of dealer's are being gay with me wanting test ride's because im only21. Private seller's probably won't give a toss

You'll probably be very lucky to get a test ride from a dealer. Because you have only compulsory basic training the least they would want would be proof you have insurance for that ride. I doubt their insurers would accept the risk of giving test rides to CBT only holders.

The best way to find out would be to talk to some of them. Perhaps if you go and talk and show you are a more mature YANG MAAAN they might be more prepared to budge

My bike has the same engine as the RS4 with carbs and an upright position could be worth checking out.

I get 70 on the GPS (more with a tailwind) and thats bouncing the limiter so there is room for up gearing.

I test rode my xt125 on a CBT but that was only because I went there with my friend who was friends with the owner. He rode behind me and I went round the block. I very much doubt that they would have allowed that under normal circumstances.

But if you don't ask you don't get.

They might let you if you hand them 100% of the cash to look after whilst you do the test ride. But best asking before hand. More chance of getting a pillion ride in my honest opinion anyway.

I'm selling my CBR now and because I expect people with only a CBT to be buying it i put in the ad, test ride requires full cash deposit... If they crash the bike, It's theirs.

If your happy putting down the full cash deposit then there's no reason they should deny you.

Agree with the above, full value in hand should get you a test drive

You're barely able to afford running an HN125-8, this isn't a serious question.

You've got about a year to go before you can get an A2 license and access to a much wider range of bikes that offer better value for money than a 125.

If you do find some money, I'd put it in a jar until then.

YZF r125

Looks better and is more reliable and has more spares and aftermarket parts about.
You will get allot of people on here saying that the bike is too expensive etc, but if you have the money to burn then do it.
In my case the money was going to go eventually it was either buy some clothes, games, money to get smashed for couple months or get an r125.

Why do you say that? I'm looking after my Huoniao just fine... I make sure the chain is well lubed , the bodywork is waxed, oil is at a safe level. she's away's covered when I'm not using her, I make sure the disk lock is always armed, and I check the vitals every day (steering, lights, brakes, oil's and suspension) trust me, the bike is well over pampered Very Happy

If you want a bike to keep up on A roads, why spend loads of money on a slow bike?

NSR125 for £1k or less will do 100mph on the clocks when derestricted and thus happily sit at 70, as well as getting there a fair bit quicker than a 4 stroke.

Paying £100 a month for a good many years to buy a sheep in wolf's clothing seems like complete insanity to me!

Yeah, I Know.... Being stupid....

I can drive my Huoniao for, what .... 10 months? past my A2 (easier said then done, I'd imagine), and take a HP on a CBR 600RR, which I could still afford.
Actually the CB's look better - more comfortable I should say Wink

EDIT: or a Bonneville , or a Moto Guzzi V7 , or a Daytona, or an R6, or...
**** how do you guys choose..... albeit there's alot of differences between all the bikes - I'm not an expert yet.

Hell, even a 300cc BSA? look like fun.

EDIT 2: When a manufacture states "True Track Day Tool" - does that translate to "True Public Road Suicide Machine" ? haha , I'm sure there's lots of people who drive daytona's on the road and never broke a bone Wink
