Hey chaps

New TZR isn't as fast as the old one, maybe something to do with a rubbish aftermarket end can which would look more at home on a 250 4T. It's open-ended and I can get my fingers in it. I was always told that a proper can has a narrow end with a stinger on the end, as this helps the expansion chamber do its thing.

Arrow used to make a carbon end can, but they don't any more. The only thing I can find is Gianelli make a complete system. It's nice but costs 150 quid. My current system is still in good nick apart from the can.

URL for those who care https://www.bbbikeshop.co.uk/acatalog/info_1516.html

Is it worth getting? Or should I just put up and shut up?

(yes I know it's only a 125. Still saving up for a 3XV)

Cheers
Timmeh

Can you try running it without the silencer fitted at all to see if there's any performance difference? If the can fitted has an internal baffle tube at least as big a diameter as the stinger pipe, and is straight through, then it should make no difference at all really.

Some 2T pipes actually use the silencer as part of the expansion chamber and the convergent cone is sometimes built into the silencer/baffle area. Most of these exhausts tend to be a one piece pipe though.

Have you tried de-coking the rest of the exhaust system and the powervalve/exhaust port, as it could be a bit carbon'd up where as your old one might have been de-carbonised or re-built with cleaned out ports and exhaust system etc.

Thanks for the tips guys.

It's down on compression, the squish is way too large and the engine is prolly full of shit.

Zorst is a straight-through job with no baffles, if I stick a torch in I can see right down into the expansion chamber.

Time to think about a rebuild. Otherwise engine is in good nick, sparkplug lasts about 500 miles and the last one I pulled out had a lovely grey / mottled chocolate end, so the fuelling is at least OK.

Or I could be a total nob and get a 175 kit for it.

ta Thumbs Up
