It is finally coming down to a more sensible level as I approach the age of 27. Also bizarrely this year, my renewal was the lowest price I could get dispite phoning round for two hours (and being told by the Pakistani lady at NU that if I wanted to insure two bikes, I would need two seperate policies ).
So Carole Nash, £240 for TPF&T for both a 660cc MZ supermoto and a GPZ500s, parked outside in my front yard with an immobiliser on the MZ. 8 years NCB, 3 points on my licence. Includes £150 excess, protected NCB, legal protection and European breakdown recovery. Underwritten by Royal and Sun Alliance.
Not too shoddy compared to previous years, still a rip-off though. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

It seems strange to see someone pleased with their insurance for a change!! I suppose insurance is a rock around all of our necks and no matter how bad a situation your in theres always some poor sucker in it deeper. Annoys me when people say your stupid for paying silly insurance prices. If someone is passionate enough about something in his life to pay 1800 quid a year just to ride his Gixer then I say fair play to him! I havent got a clue what my CBR is gonna cost me this year, but no doubt I'll pay it whatever it comes out as.
Thinking about the original post £250 is awesome. I just got a new car thats group 2 insurance. Its a brand spanker 1.0 Seat Arosa 'S' (dont let the 1.0 fool you into thinking its slow, its very very very very s-l-o-w ) and thats come out as £250 for the year aged 23 with 5 years no claims.
Just once I'd like to get one over on the bloodsuckers..... |

my insurance was ok ish this time, i got a renewal of 500 TPO, did dannys thing and he got me 380, phoned my original insurance company and threatened them with that, and they matched it no problem makes me wonder how cheap they could /really/ get it if needed, bah
but im happy with 380, yes its only TPO, but last year i paid almost a grand to insure my R6 and didnt think it was stupid at the time thats a scary number now ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

My da insures his GPZ500 for £120 in Northern Ireland without any no claims.
And mine is a reasonable 280, not bad again considering Northern Ireland rates. Getting a car will be a different kettle of fish though. |

Ya old git!
I'll be celebrating the day I can afford fully comprehensive insurance on my bike. At the moment I think I'll remain moderately chuffed with the £240 I'm paying TPFT including TPO on any other bike, 30 days green card, breakdown recovery and legal cover...

I added MrsHippy to the Benelli policy this year, and they still only wanted £380 fully comp - being old does have it's advantages ____________________ I spend all my money on bikes and beer, the rest I simply waste! |

Ahh only TP here (couldnt afford 1400 TPFT that wouldnt go down hugely for another two years).
Just annoys me even the 'insurance for bikers, from bikers' style companies doesnt take into account that yes 600 sounds big...
I even offered sending a copy of the restrictor certificate as proof of having it (so would invalidate insurance without restrictor)
Seems to me they are missing a niche in the market. (I would say that.. i'm in that niche)
What age/garage/NCB you got Bendy?
I am:
17
1yr NCB
Brick Locked Garage with Ground Anchor and Door Anchor
Meta 357T Alarm/Immobiliser
And still 1000 or so TP.
From what i can gather will be a few years before NCB really starts to affect the premium more than 150 or so a year. (age discrimination if you ask me ) That sound about right? ____________________ Previous - Gilera DNA50 / XVS125 Dragstar/Honda CBR 600F/GSF 650 Bandit

27 with 3 years NCB, private car park with a ground anchor and a Datatool alarm system = £250 for tpft with legal cover and cover to ride other bikes.
They like age, they like you to have had your licence for a bit, they like you to be female and they like you to have had the bike for a bit.
The area rating also affects it - some people think it's just for theft but it's not cos I got a quote when I lived in London for TPO on a car, and then one which was the same but for my current address and London was about £200 more. More vehicles, more chance of an accident I guess. So even though I commute into London every day and do more miles than when I lived there, my insurance is cheaper. Crazy fools. |
