Man arrested for pretty much nothing. Ignore all the rap music and ghetto talk at the beginning, it's such a bullshit thing to happen, I hope that cop gets shot in the face. |

While it may seem strict, can't you see the need for such a law? In a time when you have EDL marches, UAF marches and the London Riots, can't you see the need for any potential hotpot of anger and violence to be moved on, especially in the hub of our economic and political areas.
That woman might have only been reading out the dead, but then what if someone took offence, then someone defended her and back and forth, before you know it you have 40 odd people shouting abuse at each other and the mob mentality takes hold, you've got a mini-riot. Or what if 2 people are there tomorrow, then 4, then 8. Will it stop when there are hundreds of people shouting out different agendas on the streets of our capital? ____________________ Current Bike: 2005 Suzuki EN125-2A Grey.

Nowadays, very slightly...
When Brown became prime minister he repealed that law and did something else remotely smart within a fortnight. I thought, wow I've misjudged him... turns out I was wrong though. ____________________ current: ducati monster 750

No, no I can't. The whole purpose of protest is to get your point across to the people who need to hear it - the legislators. Those lawmakers creating laws which ban protest near them is the same thing as saying "Fuck you, I don't give a shit what you say, I won't even listen. Now shut up and go back to being seen and not heard."
EDL? I don't like what they say, but they should surely be allowed to say it, whoever they offend. Remember, as mentioned another post recently, offence is taken, not given. Causing injury and damage to property is a different thing, but offence? Sticks and stones... ____________________ The Old Apprentice |

This is the same America where a 5 year old can be given a gun to go hunting.
It's actually marketed as 'my first rifle'. It's sold in pink, blue and various other colours and designs to appeal to kids.
It's not a toy, it's real.
The five year old then leaves it in the corner of a room with a bullet up the spout.
It's then played with by the boy's 2 year old sister, who dies when it goes off and she's shot. This happened last Tuesday.
Story on BBC site - link if you click here.
A tragic accident but one that should not have happened for so many reasons on so many levels. So much for gun safety, parents really fumbled the ball on that one.
It's not unique or an isolated one off, chance in a million incident though. BBC News - same report wrote: | ...A five-year-old girl was shot and killed by her eight-year-old brother in western Alaska on Tuesday, while a seven-year-old boy shot his sister, nine, in the leg in Auburn, Washington state, on Thursday... |

Absolutely not and the example you proceed with is horse cack - public discourse on the 'streets of our capital' is dangerous for plebs and leads to violent acts?
Trasler wrote: | ...can't you see the need for any potential hotpot of anger and violence to be moved on... |
So it is better for the police to presume and discriminate and stop any 'potential hotpot of anger and violence' rather than act IF a 'potential hotpot of anger and violence' turns angry and violent?
Might as well ban football matches then. And socialising in working class pubs. And groups of men gathering in numbers too. And hen nights / stag doos. And women drivers. And...

Best location for a protest and/or public discourse, surely? These days, any protest and/or public discourse held outside of London is futile and receives fuck all coverage save a 20 second report on BBC North West Tonight, somewhere between Mrs Jones' dog doing something vaguely unorthodox and the weather.
Kradmelder wrote: | ...A protest march and reading out the names of soldiers killed in Jew wars is against the law because it is near westminister? where must they do it? an an empty forest?... |
Pretty much Krad, yeah. Well what the fuck do you think UK is? A well-oiled society in which Citizens / Subjects are allowed to express opposition to such agendas or something? ____________________ Yamaha XJ600S, Volvo v40. |

Nothing wrong with children and guns. Children have handled firearms for 100s of years. A few generations ago 6 yo boys where shooting darkies to protect their families from marauding darkies.
My son had an air rifle at six, and a .22 at 8. he had simple rules: if I catch you leaving it unattended you lose it; if you point it at anyone or any living thing not threatening you, even unloaded, you lose it; if you pass it to some one without the breech open, you lose it; etc. One day he left it leaning against next to an open door and went for a bath. I picked it up, stormed into the bathroom without knocking and told him what if I were a darkie come in know and killed your family because you didn't clean it and put it away? he lost it for a few weeks. And learnt his lesson about fire arm safety.
A 5 year old isn't going to go hunting. He is not going to eat what he shoots. He is going to go killing: birds, small wild life etc. why should they die for someone's entertainment, not food.
The problem isn't kids and firearms. It is the American mindset that it is somehow macho, or some status symbol to shoot things. A firearm is just another tool a kid must learn to use like a chainsaw, a power drill, an angle grinder etc. its a tool you learn to use and use when necessary. ____________________ 2011 KTM 990 Dakar

In the US (which isn't the best example as you will see) they have freedom of speech enshrined in their constitution. Specifically, the first amendment of that document.
Now, a combination of the awkwardness that amendment has caused since folk became literate, weasel words and the kind of apathy displayed by Trasler, we can see sights like this:
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/First_amendment_zone1.jpg
The above is the "First Amendment Zone" at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. I say "at", but in reality they were placed quite a distance from anywhere which may have made their speeches relevant.
Looks a nice place, doesn't it? Want that in the UK? ____________________ The Old Apprentice |

It's always "a time when".
We're always at war with Eurasia Eastasia, there are no mythical idyllic periods when it's safe to repeal "but what if this happens, what if that happens, what if goblins happen?" laws. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Before the royal wedding some peaceful activists of the 'street performer' variety were detained on the pretext that they 'might' cause some disturbance during the event.
The people arrested were 60ish yeah old university lecturers. They hadn't actually done anything wrong. They were detained because of what they MIGHT do. And what they MIGHT have done wasn't even unlawful.
Can't find any info on them but there was one of those shaky youtube vids somewhere documenting it all. Quite a shocker.
Anyway here's a related article. https://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/apr/29/royal-wedding-police-criticised-protesters.
Haven't heard much recently to do with this kind of fascism malarkey, but I'd still just like to say, as a general side note in relation to the topic of this post, FUCK THE MONARCHY.
