~Ok so I dropped my wheels and frame down to the powder coaters a few weeks ago for sorting. I emailed them last night to see if it was all ready collect and they told me they shot blasted it today to primer it and found a part of the frame had rotted and that a previous person as filled it and painted over the filler to match the bike.
They want me to come and take a look at it this weekend. Now ive ridden the bike with no issues for the last 18months and its been fine, so I expect it will be ok.
But when I went to collect spares for it I picked up an engine in the frame. the frame is in excellent condition with little corrosion, but as been marked as scrapped, but the badge as been removed and there are no markings id'ing the frame. Could I use this frame and stick my badge on their? ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/

technically its classed as ringing as its not the origonal frame that the vin plate belongs to ____________________ was: derbi senda, aprilia sx125, nsr250 mc16, cagiva mito, cb600 hornet now: mk1 bandit, KR1S, landrover series 3 light weight 2.5 petrol, 5speed box |

Have to agree change frame VIN would be dodgy. The V5 goes with the VIN that goes with the frame.
Only alternative way I can think atm to use the other frame is go for Q plate and the vehicle self build hoops/checks that go along with that. Probably more hassle than it's worth and more pennies but legal.
Others may post a better solution - like fix original frame properly. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

You could use your vin on the new frame if you cut your old frame into little pieces and throw it away
It is illegal, but who is ever going to know? ____________________ Generic XOR 50, Gilera SMT 50, GSXR 400 GK73A, Ducati Monster 600, Honda Hornet 600.

AS far as im aware it was just used for parts and rather then been sorn it was "Scrapped"
Looking at pics ive taken it looks as if may be the section which the tail light bolts to and rear cowl so its not structural and wont be seen once bike put back together.
I'm tempted to just get them to paint it and not worry. its passed all mots and is straight so its not unsafe in anyway. ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/

Went and checked the frame and all is ok. IT was rotten on the thin metal cross beam where the tail light/undertray bolts to so no load and all good, they just wanted to show me as the finish will be rough and not smooth on that part. But seeing as the plastics cover it im not worried. ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/

Frame & V5 off ebay & build around that.
If i was gonna build something properly serious i'd take it to be straightened up & aligned and stuff propperly before blasting/coating too...but meh. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
