Weight restrictions would rule it out.

As follows

You can use motorbikes with an engine size of 125cc or more to tow small trailers.
Your motorbike has to be clearly and permanently marked with its ‘kerbside weight’.

Kerbside weight is the weight of the vehicle without passengers or any load but with a full tank of fuel and filled up with the necessary oils, water and fluids.

The trailer must be no more than 1 metre wide and must be clearly and permanently marked with its unladen weight.

When the trailer is loaded it must weigh no more than 150 kilograms or 2/3 of the kerbside weight of the motorbike - whichever is lighter.

When hitched, the distance between the end of the trailer and the rear axle of the motorbike must be no more than 2.5 Metres.

Clearly Swedish have over-come that technical problem and produced a road legal car towing bike for use in several countries so far! Think of it can get through congested traffic to recover a car to allow traffic to flow once again or from the side of the road, if need be?

Quite a while, since they've been around at least since 2006 :-

It's an old idea.
There was this thread about it in 2009 and it been used in Japan.
It's where I put in a reference to it being mentioned in 2005.

The Coming Through - The Retreiver is still there. It's the Swedish company that came up with it.

I like the idea. Able to get through congestion and take away a car.

Thumbs Up

I think it would be really good in the old congested city centre of London with it's old narrow winding streets where there isn't much room to bypass a broken down car, but one of those bikes could slip straight through where a normal recovery couldn't do if the traffic is already backed up and they can't take tight/slim alleyways to get around obstructions or closed off roads.

This is or was in the UK already up north somewhere.

I emailed about the regs concerning the legals of a bike towing a car and they had a special dispensation issued to allow for it.

I had a quick google but didn't find it but it is in the UK.
