As said above electric start only works if you apply left lever. Microswitch on that may be faulty or not as same must be done if kick starting it.
Actually electric start not needed for MOT. My lad's Varadero just passed and he has to push start that every time. ____________________ ...and the whirlwind is in the thorn trees, it's hard for thee to kick against the pricks...

Any mature help would be very much appreciated

Not tested so won't fail.
Electric start wires could just be a bit crapped up. You could remove the switch gear and see if its corroded inside, again, you could bodge this but you might want to find out why its not working as intended. |

Just to add to that, and without wanting to be a grammar Nazi, however. Piss poor punctuation and spelling throughout:

Trying to pull the issues apart into something clear. Correct me if I'm wrong, this is what I can work out from your somewhat rambling description:
1. The electric start isn't doing anything at all on the button. When you bridge the terminals on the relay, it turns over.
2. The horn isn't working.
Are the horn and start button on the same switchgear unit? Does anything else on that switchgear unit work? If the switchgear unit is totally dead, it could just be disconnected.
Assuming it is connected, you need to get your multimeter out and start checking for continuity along the various wires, and trying a direct 12v feed on some parts.
For the horn, try applying a direct 12v feed across it. Horns do suffer from corrosion and stop working. A strong feed may free it up, try also giving it a hard tap on a hard surface. It may sound like a duck's fart at first, but a few operations will free it up.
For the starter, the relay is suspect. Again, give it a hard knock then a strong 12v feed. A car battery is worth trying.
Make sure the scooter battery is fully charged for all work.
In short, some bits may have seized up a bit. The application of a little percussion and a strong electrical feed should free them up, then repeated use should get them working reliably again. |
