Ask Fifteen15 about the comfort thing - he's been rockin' the SV for a little while now. Once the correct curvature of the spine sets in (after about two thousand miles), and wrist bones become molded, some of the agony *does* begin to subside.

The SV650 was my first bike. When I first got it, it was extremely uncomfortable even though I'm 5' 11" so not overly tall or short. After 10 minutes riding my back and wrists would be aching like mad. I looked into risers and conversion kits but just put up with it in the end because 1. I'm lazy and 2. I don't like to spend my money. Anyway I'm glad I didn't buy anything for it because after 3000 miles it got a lot better. Now I can do a 400 mile trip to London just stopping for fuel and it was fine. I don't even think about comfort anymore.

Saying that though, if you've just come off a 125 you'll probably already be bike fit to a point.

If you want lower pegs and don't mind a bit of DIY then the pegs from a Buell ulysses can be modified to fit, no mods are done to the bike or it's rearsets so you can return it to standard in next to no time.

two question, the rear break seems really weak, after checking the pads it only has around 20% pad left so time to replace i guess

the other is front break, while i was doing a 0-60 and got to round about felt that if i press the brakes harder it is going to lock up so had to let it run slightly to the round about which isn't safe

after that i did few hard front brakes only ( 5,10 miles) and it did feel like it is doing stoppie and is about to through me over, is that possible ? what is the balance you guys use to bring the bike to stand still?

I rather enjoyed the low running costs of one of these for a couple of years, but I also found it uncomfortable for long runs - the seat mainly - seemed to dig into your upper thigh or something.
Nice and narrow for filtering and cheeky parking.

The seat is crap.

Fifteen15 is correct too, if you're tall you might will find the S (faired one) a bastard on the wrists and back if you're riding around town. Out on the motorway, it's fine.

To the OP: Congratulations, go join sv650.org!

I'm 5"10 and find the SVs can be uncomfortable at slow speeds.
But you can normally shift your weight around to avoid it & high speeds it's not an issue Thumbs Up

If you're riding fast on the motorway, you're not stopping and starting all the time (and so having your own weight pushing forward on your wrists) and also the wind blast might support you a bit. YMMV, but that's what I found with mine.

Still not that comfortable a bike IMHO.

Overhaul your brakes would be my first bit of advice, they arnt particularly great anyway so make sure there in tip top condition with chunky pads and ul be fine.

When going fast the wind blast hits your chest, pushing you back a little bit therefore taking the strain off your wrists.

would this pain go away after a while, possibly when you gain some muscle around the wrist Very Happy ?

is it the same when riding r1 and other bikes ? or sv650 is unique? i guess it is same on all clipon handle bars due to the riding position

I found my SV quite uncomfortable coming from my straight position YBR.
Check out SV650.org for my thread, I had a good moan Laughing
However after shifting my weight around and changing my body position, I can't really complain after riding for over an hour.
Faster speeds do help as it transfers your weight off your wrists, I find with slow / city riding you put more pressure onto your wrists.
Don't get me wrong it's not a on off switch, decelerating doesn't trigger instant pain. But when traveling at slow speeds, aches ect are a lot more noticeable / common Neutral

If your still within your first 200 miles, you wont be comfy yet Twisted Evil
It will happen when your not thinking about it.

It is a leant over bike thing. More sporty bikes will be even worse for it. Standard advice is to take the weight off your wrists. Support your upper body by keeping your back straight and grabbing the tank with your knees.

That way, your legs and back will hurt rather than your wrists Laughing .
